Volvos are just good old reliable and not showy. I drive my V40 everywhere, especially to the Chinese malls where the parking spots are so damn small. I don't care that much when my V40 get door dings.

Actually I've had it for a year only but it looks pretty beat up already.

Some people get jealous at MB/BMW and that why so many of them get keyed daily. You never see anyone gets jealous at a Volvo. :p

Haha! I like this! I always think MB design :thumbsdow . They are a marketing company not a engineering firm.
BTW, I used to have the S70T5M but that tank is really sucks! It was slightly better than my Civic but after I traded in my Civic for a Prelude, the Volvo made me totally sick of it, rough engine, rattle, slow response, sloppy truck feel manual, feel too heavy, very very bad handling, serious understeer...etc. :confused2 I drove both my volvo and prelude side by side for 1.5yr. It made me hate the volvo more & more. So end up I traded it in for my current 328i after owned the volvo for 2 yr and 40000km with a huge loss (dropped 50% value in 2yr because it is a manual volvo). NEway, my Volvo still way better than my mom C220. So here is my ranking Honda=BMW > Volvo > Kia > MB woot

It's okay for me 'cos I mostly use it for family outings and shopping/transport. Also they do have pretty go safety features that other cars don't, like the whip lash prevention system or whatever they call that.

I also have a big incentive to get Volvos because I can buy them with the "A Plan". Aston Martin too for that matter but can't afford it.:p

One thing with Volvo's though, they can and do save lives in accidents.

I still remember my buddy who tracked his volvo and rolled it. Still drove it home slowly with almost every body panel damaged :confused2

Anybody remember Ian Law who used to do Solo1 slalom events with a volvo?

if you are a hardcore DIY:

There is no central jacking point on the 2004 S60 sedan
Oil filter is at the bottom, at least it's easy access as it face the front
Emergency jack is garbage...my buddy's car nearly collapse twice when using emergency jack to change winter tire. We went with the floor jack and jack from the side....way way safer

I was rolled over and fell into a ditch on my prelude 2 yr ago. It even didn't have ne damage on the body panel, just some scratches and damaged the bodykit. I only need to do a alignment & rebalance all my wheels that's it.
