I didn't post this thread in the "Other Meets" section cause I haven't made any definite plans. I just wanted to see if anyone is interested in getting tix and booking hotel rooms for the F1 race in Montreal next year. The race is from June 10-12, 2005...I know it's a long time away. You really have to reserve hotel rooms well in advance b/c they book up fast.

If there is enough interest, we can split up the work and look into the cost of tix and hotel rooms. I think generally, hotel rooms will ask for a credit card when booking...but they won't charge you. And it's likely you'll be able to cancel a week or so in advance if something comes up. Therefore, I think it doesn't hurt to book the accomodations early. let me know what you all think.

You will have alot of difficulty booking rooms in anything major even now for the F1 in June. The other **** is they jack up the prices that weekend by about 200%. Because it's F1 weekend, you may not be able to cancel your reservation...

For sure I will be there, no questions as I have not missed one in over 12 years.

Im already there. Its in annual father and son thing for us. My brother is coming this year as he missed the last few years due to him being a Cali boy now. Its always a good time, usually a great race in a great city.

Get them every year. My dad is a "very good" MB customer, so they give us some perks and a really sweet package for the weekend, it ain't cheap though. But there are lots of perks that go along with it. I got to meet Mika Hakinnen a few years back, we chatted for a few minutes, he was walking to a press meeting and I got up with him. He was very down to earth, he later went on to win the championship that year too.

M night tickets are really hard to come by...I mean 3 BMW's including an M and I don't even get them! My friend who is an older guy has many BMW's including M5, M3 and he didn't even know about them...

pit passes if you were to buy them are like $1000. I get tickets every year for myself usually through my business contacts, but I haven't been able to get pit passes since that one time many moon's ago...

GP Tours (http://www.gptours.com/new/race.php/id/5060)

honestly, for tickets just wait to get them from the scalpers when you are there. There is never been a problem buying them and you can get pretty much any grandstand you want.

if you want to BUY the M night tickets you can call BMW and inquire. I had the guys call me every year for last 2 years asking me if I wanted to buy them...yah right...it's me who bought a friggin M3...

cool...I remember Air Canada had a deal a few years back...something like $1000 for the weekend, in the VIP tent and airfare. Pretty good deal if you wanted to pay....

I also had a chance to get Toyota pit passes last year and VIP seating if I did some business with Travelex the foreign exchange dealer...didn't do any business, so no tickets!! :crying: :crying:

Damn, that is a lot. But those packages usually include meals, hotels, tickets, all the perks, and transportation and some goodies. But thats still pretty steep. But that is F1 for ya. Blame Bernie.

Like I say, if you have to pay out of your own pocket it can get very expensive...most of the people that get those packages are corporates that have huge expense accounts and can afford to spend that kind of $$$, that and Pej's Dad!

I usually don't go all 3 days, so I can probably pass those on to anyone that wants to go.

I'm of course working on my own VIP passes....
