So who is coming out to this one?

I went last year and it was a wicked experiance! woot

"The locations are secret, and the areas are secluded..."

Yes people, it's that time of year again. Time to ignore your bed, conscience, and general intuition of what's right and what's wrong. It's time for the first installment of MidnightCruise, 2008.

One of the favourite past MidnightCruise events was the Highway Battle in 2006. This year it's back again, as having such a huge group is a lot easier (and safer) to manage on the freeway. Plus...it's just more fun on the open road with dozens of fast BMWs sometimes.

For the uninitiated, here's the video from MidnightCruise 2006 Pt.2: 2006 Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zYhyxV5oaY). And, here's where we meet: Location. (http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69352) As usual, there will be NO discussion of the route on the board. The cruise will take place during/after the weekly meet in Woodbridge. We will depart sometime after 12AM; further information will be discussed at the meet spot, but leave yourself a half tank of gas.

Cliff's notes:
Be at the La Paloma lot by midnight.
Have gas.
Prepare for a cruise like no other.

See you there...

^ And do what? You guys had worse odds during the long weekend cruise you did up to Wasaga.

lol but the Wasage cruise wasn't a "highway battle"! wtf is that supposed to mean?

There won't be much of a battle this time around, more of a drive down some highway stretch lol. That video is from 2006, I guess back then people felt a bit more invincible than they do now :D

This certainly ought to be fun so long as people don't start ruining things what with the stupid race/drift laws. The Wasaga cruise went very well, so let's hope this is gonna be even better!

kinda skeptical about this because of the coordinated stunts people are pulling on the city streets :Idunno:

ya, i'd be a little worried about driving too. never know how a cop (if pulled over) can spin this on everyone for reckless driving even though you didn't partake in any dangerous driving.

the most recent wasaga cruise looked "safer" in my eyes, considering i didn't go. i would much preferr a more relaxed "cruise" rather than speeding in middle of night.

Lol, I drop by that plaza a few times a month, 80% civics- no kidding. Like others said, Id be much more up to cruising rather than racing. Could be a very expensive night if tickets start getting handed out

if you've been to the maxxer-meets AND our meets, you will understand what we are sayig

the e90/e92 and e46 drivers are very mature , we didn't go over 15 km/ hr to wasaga.. we passed by 6 cops, none of which pulled us over.

as for the maxxers, it's a different story... everytime there's a cruise, people will get pulled over, there are more "immature drivers" who want to prove a point all the time (showing off their e30s or e36s are not that slow).. and the cops tend to pull over "older cars with loud exhausts" than "newer cars with dubs"...

i am sure it will be an awesome cruise.
but "midnight" and "highway battle" don't go together, fyi, cops do surf on the boards.

I agree with everything you've said about the max people being a lot more immature - I have first hand experience with this. To be perfectly honest, I don't see it being that big a deal. During these cruises I usually end up driving with a few other cars that I personally know will not pull stupid antics; more of a tag along kind of thing than being with the rest of the crowd lol.

As for the whole "highway battle" thing, I don't get that either. From what I heard form the organizer, it's supposed to be just a cruise and that's it. let's hope it stays that way!

To clear things up for you guys "highway battle" is just the name of the event. In no way is this any sort of battle, race nor rally. Last year I was cruizing with the lead pact and they were usually driving 10km under the speed limit so that everybody could catch up and I still had a blast.

For those of you that are paranoid about going on this cruiz, you could always just swing by for the meet which usually starts at 10pm. You could even try the cruiz out and if you don’t like what you see, simply leave...

OMFG it was awesome. The rain faded away to nothing, and we went on until about 4AM, let's just say all around the GTA! Best fun I had with clothes on! We have to do it again - too many people wimped out due to the rain but it got better by about 1AM.

Yep, I was there. Very cool meet, but I bounced shortly after we hit the highway. Cruisin just isnt the same while its pissin. Did the rain die down? Did you guys end up hittin all the spots on the route?

EVERY spot on the route was hit, with time to chat and walk around and watch the action, then the bonus stage at the end. There was no rain for about 3/4 of the entire trip.
