Ok, something was really grinding my gears and I couldn't put a finger on it but now I remember.
I oversee this forum along with Audiophilia and we like to try to keep a positive vibe around here, keep out the trollers, spammers and the sketchiness. Hence the reason for a team of great moderators to keep an eye out when Admins are gone.
But on top of all the negative feedback Sam Afzali has been getting for whatever reason of his own actions and I can't imagine it would be with the buyers. I can personally attest for 2 of the would be buyers as one of them is my friend and have had business transactions with both with no issues.
My dealing with Sam Afzali was about a month or 2 ago. He booked an appointment for a Saturday morning for his M3 if I remember correctly. Well I drove all the way from KW to Scarborough to wait for him for his 9am appointment. And of course... 9:10 rolls around, nobody. 9:30... still nobody.
9:45am I ended doing my own car.
He was a no show. Wasted my time, my gas, my mileage and a Saturday where other potential clients could have been booked.
Rant and feedback end.

sorry to hear chrissy, maybe you need to start taking a deposit for appointments. :)

Yes.. I thought about that, but at the same time, out of all the years I've been detailing I've only had 5 no shows. The consideration is still there to have a deposit system to guarantee the appointment but as for now I'll leave it as is.

that is true, but a business is a business. at least you guarantee youself some form of colateral since if you dont do a car, you dont get $$. say a flat rate deposit of $100 (non-refundable) that can be deducted from their total price and ofcourse their appointment can be rescheduled if they cannot make it. with no forseeable break in gas prices on the horizon, i think its only fair for you and the consumer considering you make the drive from KW to TO. no one is losing here..its a win-win situation!

Yup... all considered and discussed with a business colleague, but at the same time, I'm also not the only detailer in town capable of getting the job done. And other detailers also don't charge a deposit. In addition, it's not my client's problem that I decided to live in KW but still operate my business in Toronto.
For example, BMW dealerships don't charge a fee if you miss your appointment. (The last time I checked a while back anyways.) :Idunno:
In addition, I don't want to have to pay ridiculous fees for merchant services having a credit card system setup for a seasonal business. Etc etc etc. Lots of other reasons from a business standpoint.
But thanks Ivan.

Chris - i think that the deposit system is a double edged sword, but there should be some form of assurance your clients will show up.

I talked to Jeff about it.. and you're right... that's exactly what he said, it's a double edged sword. I think 5 no shows in the last 8 years is pretty good.

the forum rules actually mention how this is handled [ie - via PM and warnings resulting in a ban. yes - he is on a short leash....] if you notice a post where he is selling - please notify the mods or admin.
In addition, members do PM the administration in complaints of sales transactions and these are taken into account. Should a future sale be posted by any members with valid complaints against them, your For Sale item will be deleted.
