What is everyone getting for fuel mileage in the 335I? For the past five days while my 545I was in for a service and I averaged 11.4L/100km mixed city and hwy in a 2009 335I. Driving the same route I always average 10L/100km in my 545. Considering the size of the car and the larger engine displacement in my 545 I thought the 335I would be much better on fuel.
Any thoughts?

Are you are expecting us to believe that you were not pulling standard "jeffy burnouts" with the loaner car as demonstrated in your sig? :wink2:

I found the 335 to be very thirsty in the city.

yea, i average about 11.4 with about 70/30 city/hwy...
it feels as it the first 3 gears guzzle the crap outta gas.
i hear tunes can give you better gas mileage :Idunno: and where on earth do you go to get a 2009 335i as a loaner?
who's ur daddy?

11.4 is great for 70% city IMO. My guzzler takes 12.5 and I think I do more highway than you. But it's AWD and you know how big Daddy is...

Loaner is from BMW Waterloo. They always treat me great; I usually get a 5 series as a loaner.
So I am right the 335I is a pig!!!
Yorgi you know my sig is altered, I would not act so irresponsibly. woot

I can confirm that the 3.0L twin turbo I6 engine from BMW sucks quite a bit of gas in city driving.......and I already upshift as fast as I can in my short daily commute. When you're cruising in 6th gear on the highway, it is pretty fuel efficient, which is why the combined fuel consumption numbers are not too bad. But if you drive primarily in stop and go rush hour, it's almost as bad as my C55 (13-14L/100km).
There is a price to pay for horsepower.......no matter how it is achieved.....high displacement, or with forced induction.

I am just surprised in the fact my bigger, heavier, higher HP car is getting better fuel mileage... When I was considering my 545 I was also looking at the 535, I guess I picked the right car.
Yorgi, I believe the person you may have recorded in a video likely is not I. However I do remember some seriously spirited driving from a silver 330CI:yak:

So much for turbos = fuel efficiency eh?
Well in my experience, loaners are always filled with regular gas so the mileage should be worse.

that is actually the same as the e46 m3. I though the 335i is more efficient than the m3.
