After hearing so many good things on the board I took my M3 to RMP last week. My original intent was to get a check engine light diagnosed but about 10 minutes away from the shop my SMG light decides to join the check engine light in causing me financial concern.
No problem Rocco says we will check both out. Turns out the check engine is a likely a result of a misfire during the recent the extremely cold temps. The SMG light however results in a recommendation that the car head back to the dealership as it may still covered under CPO. I called the dealer and they said that since the car was in for an adjustment in the summer I might be looking at a tear down.
Rocco, bothered by the fact that he could get to the bottom of the SMG light does some more research after I left and PM's me the day after I make my dealer appointment and says it might be a $20 relay. Hmmm SMG teardown vs. $20 relay..... yeah I aggreed with him its worth I try. So I head back from Burlington, he throws in a relay and bingo - no light, runs like a top.
So for those considering RMP consider this, hen was the last time your mechanic gave you a call to potentially SAVE you $?????
Rocco, thanks again and look to the M3 in the next couple of months for the inspection!
