Hey Guys.

Just wondering if anyone you were interested in attending SoloSprint events this year.

I'll be doing SoloSprint2s in the S-Stock and S-Stock Performance classes.

Here's some info.

Also... If you join CASC or one of it's clubs, Toyo R-Compounds are 45% off.

if you guys join a CASC club, TAC is not bad. I joined them when i used to run solo.

Parking lots are for parking, race tracks are for racing.

Parking lots are a good safe place for n00bs to learn car control though.

For sure, parking lots set up for autoslalom/solo2 are a great place to test grip limits at lower speeds. I found Solo 2 pretty fun when I had a lighter car with great suspension and no horsepower, it was pretty hard to get into trouble. The heavier and less nimble your car is, the less you'll like Solo 2...

you'll also hate paying for solo 1 when you look at the $/minute of lap time you get...

one reason i stopped.

its good to do once though, you'll meet a lot of good FAST drivers and if you pick up a thing or 2, it may be worth it.

i'll be running A6s 265/35/18 for solo2.

I'd thought it'd be fun just to get a feel for the new car, plus doesn't require me to have a roll cage nor a Regional-C lisence.

FYI, just something I stumbled upon.

I've done one event on the BFG R1 last weekend. This was on a DS 330i zhp using 265/35-18 size all around (8" and 8.5" wheels). The car has a front bar, max'd out front camber (-1.2), zero front toe, 1/16 rear toe, -1.75 rear camber.

Hoosier A6s just simply do not work very well, and definitely not very long, on camber challenged stock class cars. I just took off a set of A6s where the left front corded after 18 total runs (rather long, airport courses). The A6 corners at much higher slip angles than the R1, so it is annoying to drive on the A6 given that trait (having to use much more steering input) plus the lack of feedback around the peak of the tractive force curve is also annoying. They felt dead in that respect for the most part. The A6 cording issue is not unique to my car as others in my club are having similar issues on a varying number of cars (BMW M-roadster to a Crossfire). On camber challenged cars, the A6 quickly wears its rounded edge on the outside into a diagonal edge between the tread face and the sidewall, and cords start showing shortly thereafter. Based on my initial experience this weekend, the R1 is going to be a much longer wearing tire.

:Idunno: Most of the SPDA guys run A6s with awesome results, in fact, The most of the top AWD cars that ran SoloSprint2s last season were were rolling on A6s.
