View Full Version : Rim refinishing interest

I called a few places and the best deal (I mean price with comfort level of quality job) was Carcone's. $400 for 4 rims plus taxes.
Mounting tires and balancing on rims was $15/wheel.
I don't have a set time limit (except it will be done before spring), since I can run on winter rims...
I would seriously like to have that price lowered, but it depends on interest.
If interested in refinishing rims, please post here:

Hi Regin8r,
This may be a dumb question, but does that include fixing curb rash?
:)

I've got another dumb question...should you always do all four at the same time? I think 2 of my wheels have the road rash but the other 2 are o.k.. If only two are refinished, will they look different from the non-refinished two?

well at first they will look different...it will look like you have 2 brand new rims and 2 used rims....but eventually im sure they will look the same........

Unless the shop did not match the paint properly the refinished ones will just look newer. Since the rims are far enough apart, it will be hard to tell the difference. After a 3-4 months of use, they'll be pretty much alike.
Some tire shop scratched up one of my rims so I took it back to them to have it refinished. The owner of the tire shop sent it to Wheel Wizards and the rim came back looking newer than the other three. That was 6 months ago and now I can no longer tell it apart from the other three.

My wheels have a polish finish. Will that alter the price in any way?? Also, will this be done before or after winter??
I tried Carcone before and they do a great job. The only thing they don't do is bent rims. :)

If you have timing issues, then please state what they are. I am flexible. I can do it before or after winter. I would prefer to do it before though if the price is good. Usually, they will have less demand at this time, and might work us a better deal compared to spring.

Are you sure they don't do bent rims?
Or do you have to pay extra to refinish a bent rim.
I need one fixed.

Dam, that is why I don't buy rims from E bay. Got to take it to Rama on Weston and Finch. they are the cheapest for bent rims.

Is there any place that does both?

Wheelfix but heard they are expensive :Idunno:
The safest way to buy something from internation is using Escrow service.
Both party is in the saft hand. I just got some rims and I can wait until I receive it. Then I examine the rims, if it's good then Escrow will pay the seller. :)

I might go to them cap in hand...I've got a serious 1" rash...hopefully it won't be much more than 100.00
You can do the whole rim for the $100. Plus tax I guess. :)

For an A-Type, it's very serious. Look how much I complain about my paint finish... and every little thing that shouldnt be there.
I don't know why, I should have accpet it by now, my car will never have the same finish as it did out of the assembly line no matter how many times I detail it in a week.
Hopefully not too O/T but I had the Rim Doctor in Kitchener (about 1 hour west of T.O.) straighten a bent 16" Honda rim for me - it was perfect afterwards, and was $100. The rim was "rash-free" so this didn't include any touch up - if you like, I can ask about refinishing costs. It's a small operation that only deals with used rims (they will order new ones, but don't stock them) - they buy/sell/fix - no other business that I can see! There's also generally a 5-7 day wait time, but they do seem to do good work.
I left them my car over a weekend and the guy I dealt with stored in the garage for me each night - a nice touch, since they only have room for 2 cars!

Are they online? I wouldn't mine checking them out. :)

i wanna get mine re-finished but i'm leaving the country in about 2 weeks and i'll be gone for awhile...would i be able to do it when i get back?
If you get back in the winter, I'm sure you can get a better deal. They usually not busy at that time. :)

Where's this place GTC ? telephone ? address ??
I have my bent Volks fixed by Wheelfix this week and man, they are expensive! It cost me $500 to fix 4 bent 18" TE37 and even not refinish it! :crying: BTW, I heard that powdercoating can hide small rash and scratch. So is that true? ne try that before? I think it only cost $40/wheel to powdercoat it and I remember their used to have a powercoating expert in the old E46To.com.
Why didn't you power coat at the same time while doing the rims. You probably get the better deal. :)

WheelFix dun do powdercoat. They only do repaint and will cost $100/wheel.
I did my at Weston and Finch for $125 repaint and straightening. I think it's call Rama. Do it in winter and it will be cheaper. :)

Man! that is a good price! I should get a quote before I sent it to wheelfix. But they told me forge rims cost more to straighten. :Idunno: Well... I feel got rip off... :crying:
Don't feel bad. As long as they do a good job you should be happy. :)
