Hey all, I am looking to get my drivers seat replaced with something from Recaro and it will likely be fixed back. Adjustable back ones seem to have no more reinforcement than stock, whereas the fixed back are well bolstered.

What are school rules for fixed back without a cage? If I have a Schroth 4 point (DOT approved) with the tearaway patch am I ok or will I be disallowed from events because of my fixed back seat?

The seats I am looking at are the Recaro Pole Positions, same as Vassago's... I didn't think they came leather but now that I know they do, very likely will be my purchase.

Thanks

I think you should check with either Stewart or Steve G about that question. Pretty sure seat belts must be the same for both driver and passanger not sure about seats

Again check with the above mentioned. They know better then anyone. But once you know share so others know too!!

I'd stick to 3 point OEM belts unless you plan on putting in a roll bar. I realize the Schroth 4 point is supposed to work in a similar fashion to a 3 point in the event of a crash, but I think they are unnecessary. When you have a race seat you don't really need a harness to hold you in place, your butt in planted in there pretty good and you have good shoulder support form the seat. Personally I think a harness is overkill for D.E.s unless you go for a full 6 point with roll bar.

I think there is still a possibility for submarining with the Schroth or having the upper torso not flopping forward far enough in the event of a roll-over with no roll bar. (ie if you are stuck upright in the race seat by the harness and the roof caves in you are in big trouble)
