We have installed a few of the Motorsports 4.10 and 3.91 gears lately and I thought I would post up a few pics.

Firstly, I am a very proud customer of RMP Motors.:}: Secondly, Rocco installed my OEM 4.10 gear set last year and I have nothing but fantastic things to say with regards to the install and the final product. The gears rank in the top 3 of my favourite mods and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking to get the best bang-for-your-buck performance mod. RMP :thumbsup:

what does this mod do, exactly?

what does this mod do, exactly?Makes your car accelerate like a mofo. :) It lowers the gear ratio across the board, making it easier for the car to accelerate. The only downside is that your RPMs increase at highway speeds.

If thats the case, does it mean you effectively lower your top speed (If for whatever reason you would want to drive that fast)?

Great Job to Rocco and the guys @ RPM.

Rocco and the guys installed my OEM Motorsport 4.10 Ring & Pinion last fall and I couldn't be happier with it. Deffinately wakes the car up and gives it a more spirited feel/drive in every gear. Top speed does decrease but not drastically. There was a chart posted on another board showing the difference in affected top in speed in KM/H and it wasn't enough for us to miss guys!

I am interested in this mod but I have some questions

higher rpm in each gear means it will dissipated more heat than usual, it is bad for normal daily driving. Can anyone confirm how much did the temperature go up? How does it feel in stop and go daily driving in toronto? seems like this mod in favor people who track their car on weekly basis.

i am the slowest e46 m3 driver you will ever meet. Some of you can attest to that. And I can tell you that, for daily driving it make my life easier, because there is just so much more torque at the low end. You can actually accerate and pass cars in 5th. It doesn't effect the engine heat at all. You are not constantly staying at 8000rpm.

Just do it (NIKE)

You could drive around at redline in first gear all day long and the temps will remain normal.

This upgrade is useful at the track but much more beneficial during city driving or at a drag strip. It helps the most when accelerating from stops.

thx for the explanation Rick...if you get 450-500 kms on a tank of gas before this mod, how much would you get after? (estimated--not sure if anyone's tested this)
