This will be my first winter with my 18 inch wheels (Mich Piolt Sports).
Questions is, do I have any chance of getting through the winter here with these? Or should I be looking for winter tires (which of course means new rims too, unless I can find some 18 inch winters :P ).

Any help/comments?

Thanks

no, definitely get winter tires!! you can't drive in the winter with those summer tires. I actually asked a similar question about winter tires, you can search for 'winter tires' and i'm sure the thread will come up. and I would buy new rims too...you don't want to ruin the ones that you have right now. i think 17" seem to be the best performing in the winter. goodluck.

we should really do a group buy of winter tires if anyone is interested.

I guess I would have to get rims as well, since mine are 18s. I agree with you about not wanting to ruin them, its a good idea.

As for a group buy, I would be for this as well.

Which rims/tires did you buy?

Thanks!

I have a great hook-up for tires since I work at a dealership.... let's see who's interested and we can go from there...

Dieselgrl>> Post a GB feeler on the forum and see what everyone wants and I'll check pricing (wholesale) :)

I just purchased my car...I have the stock Bridgestone Pontenza with the M-double spoke 135 rims. I'm thinking of getting the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 for my winters...not sure yet until i find the best tires for what i have.

I have a quick question. Do most people pop in their winters themselves? I haven't done this before, but up for learning....if we do a GB, where are these tires going to be sent to...a dealership/mechanic who we can pay to pop them in?

If you have nice rims, don't go to any tire store to change tires. They can scratch you rims if they don't have those new tire machines. Dealership is good.
