Im sure most of use would like to cruise up together on the 23rd. I have to discuss the details with the Chief and Commander (Glennspeed). But if we have to be there around 8:30am, and it is about 1.5 hours from North York area. Details will come shortly. As some members have suggested, Kennedy Commons might be a good place to meet as its right off the hwy and a big parking lot.
Suggestion are more than welcomed.

You need a new contract then. Now back to the cruise details.

Hey I'd be up for that. By the way, these trackday threads are somewhat scattered, and a couple of 'em run long. Would you guys be able to make a sticky of the vital info and make in a closed thread form so it's easy to access?
Thanks.

Yes please. My buddies are not on this forum and the info is buried in several theads and some of which run for many pages long. I keep putting off digging up the info to send to them because I know it will take me a while.

As RagingLamb said, make the event a sticky post that is locked to all except Glendspeed so that he can enter any updates and what-not.

How about Bayview Village to meet? More central and the chief can wake up a bit later...

I was very impressed that the last track day Pej was actually earlier than I was, but I had to wait for Ali...

We should leave latest 7am sharp to be there for 8:30am.

I think Im the only punctual Persian, but that is because of school and work has made me become that way, plus I was excited to get to the track. Bayview Village is good to. Ok, how 7am sharp in front of Chapters?

well, for the late comers, they're on their own. we leave 7am sharp!

I don't think we need a sign-up for this. If everyone is there at 7 then that's who's cruising.

I'll put a sticky with the info.

so lets say 6:45am then, if we leave by 7am.

I think its really important for the newbies to be on time, so they can run through the sit down meeting and get all sorted. Right Glen? Cause Im sure Glen and the other instructors don't want to run through the meeting twice and since they are all going to be busy as the number of newbies is high, Im sure they want to get time with all of them and get the basics down.

For those that are not cruising up with us, stop off at the Sunoco gas station once you get off the hwy and fill up as you will use a lot of gas.
For those that are coming up in the caravan, Im sure we will be stopping there for a final fuel up.

Why not add a weather link to Environment Canada. I couldn't find a link to Shannonville but I found one to Cobourg. I *think* Cobourg is just next door to Shannonville.

Great idea Santiago. I have these saved in my firefox bookmarks :)

Here is Shannonville:
Weather Channel for Shannonville (http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/cities/can/Pages/CAON1747.htm)

Shannonville is 15 minutes east of Belleville, which might be more accurate since it's a decent sized city.

Those links are more accurate than mine. They should be put in the main sticky.

Stalker is right, you will easily go thru a whole tank of gas (or even 2 maybe). So fill up before you get to the track if you can.

If you use Sunoco 94 go past the Shannonville Road exit and get off at the next exit. It's called Marysville Road / HWY15. There is a Sunoco to the south of the 401. Continue south after you fill up to the first stop sign and then turn right on Old HWY-2. This is probably the faster way to the track too.

If you prefer Shell gas (like me) get off at HWY 62/N Front Street which is the main Belleville exit. The station is south of the 401. Get back on 401 east and 5 min later you will see the Shannonville Road exit.

Gas Info

I won't get into the details, but Shell Gold will give you slightly better mileage and HP than Sunoco 94. So unless you need 94 octane due to some insane advanced timing or compression, I suggest Shell Gold. The methanol Sunoco adds to their gas increases octane and reduces emissions but it also reduces the energy value of the gas. Not to mention Gold is cheaper than sunoco 94.

If you don’t believe me do a google on “oxygenated gas sunoco”

What do you guys think of Octane booster for the track?

Yorgi
04-11-2005, 12:43 AM
Higher octane does not hurt anything, but it also will not help unless you have upgrades that require higher than BMW recommended octane levels. Examples are higher compression or advanced timing done in your engine management software.

Higher octane makes gas harder to burn and will help prevent detonation. An octane increase on it's own will not improve performance.

The additives do work though. Ultra 94 is made from "regular" gas by dumping a few gallons of additives into the tank at the station. Those few gallons cost megga-bux though.

Let's not go crazy at this lapping event guys! By taking the proper lines, you will more than make up any octane gas or mod on our cars...I just use whatever premium fuel is around...
