I only give it one :thumbsdow .

Visuals were nice but the acting was like hard carboard. Maybe that is what the director was looking for though.... Like the 50's serial cliffhangers.

The story is not good. So many scenes where you end up wondering "why" or "how" did they end up in this scene. They just used big name actors to get this movie going but the story is bad. :thumbsdow

I guess we were expecing too much from the movie. SilGrey & wifey liked it I think.

I liked Papparazzi much better or Aliens vs Preditor.

Who is Jessica :Idunno:  :indiffere

I'm on a conference call right now at work so had to use the forum as my mode of communication. I didn't think he was going to reply. :1nono:

Yes- movie lacked real depth in story or character development but was extremely stylish in the old 1930's romance adventure movie-way. For its uniqueness and boldness in breaking away from the sequel-driven hollywood pics, I liked the movie. Just a different view, not saying Eric/Jessica are wrong or anything. We lad low expectations so maybe that could explain why we had a different view.

P.S.- has anyone heard of the rumour that there's a Freddy v. Jason v. ASH movie in the works?! Ash from Evil Dead/Army of Darkness fame, of course!! Now I wanna see it!! :yak:

Because of E46Toronto.CA, I haven't been reading any other forums... :blaaaa:

I used to read Digital Bits and AVSForum a lot and there were always leaks from the studios about their upcoming movies.

Anybody want to guess on Spiderman 3&4 or X3

Episode 3 of Star Wars (out next year yea) might not even be the end....

Papparazzi was good...same with Wicker Park. Wicker Park is a very twisted movie...it'll really keep you guessing.

Sorry no PAL discs for me but I am thinking of getting a new player that is all region that can also play PAL/SEACAM. Those region 2 Japanese discs and the European Superbit titles are to die for ;)

Woah wait a minute Eric/Jess - you guys went to a movie theatre with that setup sitting at the house?? :^o:

Man, your system has spoiled it forever for me - I don't want to go to the overly loud, fuzzy theatre we have here anymore! :}:

Mark,

You should see a DLP screening of a major blockbuster movie. No more fuzzy blurred and scratched film. Direct hard drive master prints.

I am actually impressed with the THX certified theatres near Sherway Gardens. The Famous Players Silver City at Dundas and 403 used to be certified but now no more.

My greatest experience was when we went ot to see Aliens 4 and about 1/2hour before the movie I walked into the theatre and the THX alignment guy was doing the final setup and sound check. He played the THX WOW montage for just the 2 of us in the theatre (Irene was in the washroom...).

That and the first time we saw the Fugitive with Harrison Ford in the Uptown theatre. Oh the first time we saw Jurrassic Park too. Can you say concrete floors that shake with the sub bass.

We still go for the major shows just for the BIG screen impact.

SilGrey just liked the 50s treatment on the movie, but SmoothMoka thought it was kinda sucky, but Zoolander thought it was MAGNIFICO!!! :yourmyido

Eric, look at it this way. The last movie Mel and I saw in the theatre was "The Ladykillers" (great flick BTW), and when you've got a 17 year old bling bling kid next to you saying to his equally young buddy "man this movie is f***ing loud", ya know you've got problems!

Actually picture quality wasn't bad, and you know if the sound was set up properly it would be just fine, but hey...

My kudos to your setup Eric - very very well done. (Pitch Black...nudge nudge... :-) )
