I like the black trim. It makes your upper half of the vehicle more solid along with the tinted windows and it doesnt take away from the rims. Which is a nice brighter contrast on the lower half of the vehicle. IMO.

But then, I'm an A-type minimalist.

I wouldn't do it on my car, but I like the blacked out look.

My vote is DO IT

I look at it from a stealth classy perspective. Too much chrome bling for me.
That's why my trim is still black.

Nope, the trim is still chrome but it looks good on a silver car IMHO.

Don't do the ghetto can of paint trim :confused2 You should get the mouldings painted body color.

I like the black trim on your car Eric. Looks more solid too.

Hey Surk, try photoshopping a pic with your car with body colour on the trim. Never thought of that.

If I leave the window mldgs chrome..I'm getting the b\side mldgs done St. Blue...if I paint window trims...leaving b\side blk... we need a queen or princess perspective here also... Calling Jessica, Dieselgrl... Hmm..FRS out of range..

i personally like black finishes rather than chrome. but i agree, don't just spray paint it because it will look ghetto...maybe put a gloss finish on it if you can (as you can see i am very biased for the 330/m3 look). can you replace the trims or is it just a paint job...not sure how it works. I really don't like chrome...i agree it looks like your blingin...but i don't even think it looks that classy....it just looks overdone sometimes. that's just my opinion...all are welcome to shoot me down.

I have the high gloss shadow trim, and I like it. Not a big fan of chrome (used to be). Im replacing my chrome grill with the black look.

My reasoning is that the all black look makes the car look more aggressive!

I agree with you except for the glossy finish... Matte black is my choice for the trim (just like OEM).

A woman hear at work that I asked..likes the chrome, classy look...she thinks it matches up with the rims better...blk trim is for "base model" cars...Hmm, not sure about that..but like Eric says.. Chrome want Blk... women with straight hair want perms and vice...so one.. Love Orient Blue...if I ever afford a M3..it's be like Stalkers Topaz

I like the blked out trim..'ll post a better close-up pic tomorrow. I would have B\shop do it and clearcoat it... How about doing my b\side mldgs Steel blue?? ala M3 :yourmyido

Peter,

There is a option for Hi Gloss Shadowline trim OEM from the factory.
The ZHP owners already have it stock.

As for the mouldings, some people like the contrast. Some people don't.

I actually like the black trim on your car. It would go well with flat black window trim.

Black is Beautiful, specially on a darker colour ride rather than titanium silver. If your ride was silver, i'd keep the chrome.

I've promised myself I'll buy any color but black :blaaaa:
I had black before and I could never keep it clean enough and once you drive it .... :^o:

Black does look amazing at night though.

I guess that is why there are soooo many black/silver M3's but the other colors are very rare.... :crying:

I wonder if you could put chrome trim on a M3 :confused2

Yup. That's why I'm getting my trim mouldings/trunk lid exterior handle painted and the exteior pillar mouldings replaced.

All the black has faded and looks horrible. After 4 years of 122K of daily driving it'll do that.

Hmm...I still think black is best. the chrome may look classy/older look per se...but black is more sporty/young!!! I look at people driving black 5-series/6-series or Audi A4/A6 with the fat chrome trim...and i think of old guys driving it. (Ok, maybe i'm the only one that thinks that). Chrome does look good with silver cars...Get a better pic up and we can all do a better analysis.

Yup, even after 3 years. I sometimes just sit in it in my garage like I did the first day I brought it home. :secret:

You know what else? When other people drive it, like for example when I get it serviced and the driver brings it into the service reception area, I also think, "Damn! that's a nice ride. Oh yeah, it's mine."

When I see it in motion, I'm in awe!

Maybe I'm just weird.

Yup, done that, clean it as if i was eating off it (neighbours think I'm wacked.. :Idunno: ) My car puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it...would've thought the novelty of a new ride would have worn off by now after a yr...but hasn't... definately hooked on BMW's... next ride if I win 649..Topaz M3..otherwise 330Ci.. hey, I can part out my stuff to a 330...

Same. I had the E36 before this and love the BMW feel for handling. Love the look of the cars, even though they drive us crazy with taking care of them, it's worth it!! Although this modding thing can really get out of hand, money wise!

Sometimes, I go around the block a couple of extra times when I get somewhere just to drive a minute or two longer.

no halos for me (no halohalo either). anything that has the word "baking" in the install instructions is a no-no for my baby. also, with all the problems i've been reading about fitment, dremelling, snapping or breaking rings, i don't want the hassle. but here's a mod for all you halo mod freaks... hook it up to your throttle/tach. - that'll get some attention. :^o:

Good point Bluesky..never thought of it that way..here's some close-ups I took..one side blk out..other chrome...I'm leaning towards Blk (probably because I've had chrome for a yr) but as Oyster says..Once you go blk..can't go back..

That's cool. Black window trim, body colour trim moulding. It will imrpove the continuity of solid panels even more. Makes your car look bigger than it really is and less cluttered.

well. eric. lets just say it could have been better. ended up using the wrong type of clear coat. was a rush job, paint wasn't fully dried when i peeled the primers paint.

other than that, it looks ok. but i might redo it before winter.
