You never got back to me about the price for coilovers. I still have dibs if the price is right.
If we leave emotions out of it, I think 40Gs is unrealistic in today's market. Just my 2 cents... no flames please.

Jos, you've got dibs on the coilovers for sure
I've been checking Autotrader and that looks to be a mid-hi range price for a 330ci but I think I have the lowest milage and the M-Tech to boot but I do agree it is high but I pamper my baby. No track, no snow, no rain...

I know you pamper your baby.... it shows well  What mods are you including? I got the impression all mods are being parted out :Idunno: .
Don't get me wrong... you should advertise for 40K (or 39.9K), I'm only saying be prepared to settle for less. Good luck with the sale...

I'll let it go 30K for E46Toronto.CA members :confused2
Actually 2 dealers have given me low-mid 30's on a direct trade in for a M3. I've told them I would strip off all the non OEM parts and include in 17" wheels and tires....

40K is a bit high. I bought my 2001 330 Ci (with 39000KM) this summer from the dealership for about 38K and it includes extended warranty until November 2006.
I think 36K-38K would be a fair price.

Would you sell as it?
What's left on it?
Oh yeah, what were your OEM options?
Eric, I think you should ask for more. $30k I think is a REALLY good deal. Especially for the way you baby that car.

I agree...mid to high 30Ks should be fair. That first dealer is trying to rip you off. Becareful on the trade in, the dealer intends to make it back on the price of the M3!! :)

One major advantage of trading in (especially a high value car) is the tax reduction on the new car your buying. You loose this with a private sale in canada. You will proabably save $5K!
Say the M3 costs 60K and you get a trade in for the 330Ci of 35K. Through the dealership you only pay taxes (15%) on the difference ($25K). In this case the taxes would be $3,750.
For a private sale, you'd pay the full tax for the new M3 or 15% of 60K (for exampe) which is $9K; A saving of over $5K.
If you're looking for $40K for the 330Ci with all mods, sell of the mods (3K at least), trade in the 330Ci at a dealer at anything over $32K and you'd still come out on top. And you don't have to worry about letting anyone test drive your car and all the hassle that goes with a private sale.
Also, I wouldn't wait too long to trade it in... the trade in value is dependant in a large part on the model year, so with MY2005 coming out the value is likely to drop further.
Good luck and I hope you find your M3 soon... we all can't wait to see it... :)

Just a suggestion....
go to www.bmw.ca and check out their pre-own car selections. They will have the price and brief description of the car. This will give you an idea how much your car worth.

One thing my parents did when they traded in their minivan is find a buyer first. Then the dealership help process the transaction and gave them trade in value for the car at the buyer's price.
The reason was that they don't have to prep or do anything to the vehicle and it is pretty much sold already.

Did the dealership skim off some $$$ to cover their expenses or was it just so they could get another car sold off their lot?

Dont forget that their prices are higher for their "Certified" critera inspection, etc. Also because they like to make profit too :)

No dealer costs, but the buyer had to pay both taxes. There was a transfer fee though, but I think because of the Ministry of Transportation charges a fee. It was not significant though.

The Certified cars get an extended warranty. Plus you get free road-side assistance. They also will replace tires and brakes if they are worn beyond a certain point before they put it for sale. It does give you some peace of mind.
