Been thinking about a new ride (BMW of course) since my SB328i is getting close to 100km range... Was looking at a 01 330 Ci Orient Blue 78kms...as far as parting out existing susp\engine\interior..everything except clears will transfer over onto a 330 Coupe so I would be starting with 225HP and be close to 250+ HP when done transferring engine mods.. price difference will be approx $5k more for 330, but I have a newer model\year car...although not sure how much more for insurance for coupe??

Need some feedback from 330 members to see if i wanna do this.. :Idunno:

Make sure you check out the feel of the steering/handling first to see if you like the changes made to the 330. I believe the 330 has a lot softer feel. Also the mileage is not too much different between the two and at the very least, you know that you have taken good care of your car. Make sure your mods actually fit in the newer car too before you decide. Just my two cents.

Why dont you buy Eric's car? It's smoking!!

I'd love too buy Erics..but don't have that much $ to spend... besides I checked..pretty much all my inportant mods will transfer over...I'll definately have to test a 330 first to see what the difference is... I always liked Orient Blue (unique) almost bought a 328 that colour before I went with Steel Blue.

You test drive my car. The stock 330 will feel heavier and slower rev then mine. I'm Sure you'll like the stock too. If you want, I'll sell you mine. :D

Most likely. Maybe I will part out if I can get a lower insurance. That's only thing is stopping me.

I really doubt the different between 00 328ci & 01 330ci will be only $5000! I feel my 328 is damn too heavy and not enough power too but the notchy shifting still bordering me the most.

Ditto about fit of mods from 328 to 330.

As far as steering/handling, it has been changed (firmed up) practically every model year for 330Ci since it came out for Year 2001.

I am pretty sure anything after Year 2002 and later are back (more or less) to the same "feeling" as original E46 323/328 Coupes.

Take a look at the following for early 330Ci steering changes (Year 2001). I am pretty sure another change/improvement was done for Year 2003 models but don't have link available at this moment.

Find these two paragraphs in the following links:
Q: What's up with the steering for cars produced between June and December 2000?
Q: What is the 'steering retrofit'?

It would be close to $5-7000 diff for me>>carbiz=whole$ale pricing..I'll need to try a stock 330 to see what it's like ie Eric's car.. Pretty much everything on my mod list will swap over no prob...I'm holding off the flywheel until I decide to keep or sell.

I would hold off Peter and try the 330 first. You'll like it. :)
