How paranoid are you about your BMW?
Please share your issues.
Hi my name is Christyles, and I'm an auto detailer with BMW paranoia.
1)I don't like passengers because, they bring dirt into my car. Female passengers scratch my car with their long nails when they try to open the passenger door. I don't like female passengers putting their bags on the roof of my car. And no...my invisible gf is not excused from these issues i have.
2)I detail my car once a week, wax it once a week in fear of my black car not being shiny anymore. Pretty soon, there will be no paint left to wax.
3)I park the furthest from everybody, I don't park beside no minivans, no domestic or import coupes, no pickups.
4)I "shoo" birds away, they like to shyte on my car apparently. It's black.
5)I try to park underground as apart from in the sun to avoid paint marring.
6)I avoid puddles, tiny streams of water from a hose in fear of water splatter and spots.
I have serious issues. That's why I'm an auto detailer.

Alright, I admit...I have MAJOR paranoia (and problems) when it comes to my car. Here's my list and I'll share some of my wacko stories (you guys can laugh all you want):
1. I park away from EVERYONE regardless of the car type. Although, if i had to choose, i try to park near a fellow bimmer or mercedes owner...but not anyone with a coupe...although i have one myself.
2. I get paranoid if anyone gets near my car for fear of key/zipper scratches.
3. I hate it when people don't know how to lift the seat of my car to get to the back (I only do the occasional drives with people in the back)...I try to get to it first so they don't damage it.
4. I clean bird poop when i see it.
5. I wash my car twice a week...full wash with rim cleaning....I'd do it every week but my neighbours already think i'm psycho.
6. I believe my car is better than a boyfriend because he patiently waits for me wherever i go and never complains. He takes care of me and treats me right.
7. I've been getting birdie footprints on my car! Since i don't clean it until i wash my car, sometimes it's painful to look at...then i wonder...man, i hope they didn't scratch my car when they were walkin all over it!!!
Alright enuff for me, i think that's enuff amusement for you guys...

My car sits in our underground parking and since our building is still being completed its a construction zone. I don't worry about scratches, b/c the guys all know that its my car and they all like it. But needless to say it is constantly dusty. Somedays it doesn't look red at all. It looks a dirty grey or brown.... :}: I don't really care about the dust or water marks for that matter.
What I do worry about is parking. If I go somewhere and I don't like the lot, or I can't find a spot that feels right for me. I just go home!
I'm usually the one parked out at the end of the parking lot where there are no other cars except the other anal retentive owners. This is all good with my girlfriend b/c she too believes that its easier to walk than to have to deal with dents... great girl! i lover her!
What concerns me most is mechanical issues going wrong. I have total fail in BMW and their product, but for some reason everytime I hear a new noise or something from my car I immediately think "Whats this going to cost me now?".
I call myself anally retentive and am proud to say so. I take care of my vehicles and baby them. I'm going to hate being a parent some day and have to deal with some messes.... :indiffere
I'm glad im not the only one here that does all these things. My friends think im crazy.. some additions to the lists above are as follows:
1. It bugs me when people that sit in the back and scuff up my front seat backs.. And people sittin in the front that scuff up my doors with their shoes when they get out.. Also it bugs me when is see all those scratches behind my door handles.
2. When parking I try to park in spaces that arent just big or beside nice cars but I make sure there isnt a tree beside me that will give off sap. I hate it when that happens. I usually try find the closest parking space possible. The end spots are the best because I'd park beyond the line and have the car stick out more on the side.
3. Before when I lived in a house I'd wash my car once a week regardless if it rains or not and when it does rain right after, I hose off the car in the rain before I park it in the garage. This way there wont be visible water marks on the car. Then I would wipe down each window so there wont be any visible stains. Now I'm in a condo without a washbay and having a dirty car drives me nuts.
4. I keep windex wipes and other cleaning products in the car at all times in case of bird crap landing on the car.
5. It bugs me when people wear jeans with those metal buttons on their back pockets and lean on my car.
6. It bugs me when people roll down my windows right after I wash the car. Then I have to look at water stains on the window for the rest of the day. I wait a couple hours or park the car in the sun before rolling down any windows.
7. Clay / wax / polish the car every 3-4 months. This way the car is shinier plus it's much easier to wash.
I havent been keeping up with some of the things i've said party because I dont have the luxury of washing my car at home but I still try my best to keep it lookin clean.

so i am not the only crazy one ...
1) like chris .. i wash my car twice a week and wax my car everyweek ..since there is nothing better to do here and my neighbours look at me like i have 2 heads and 7 legs
2) i drive around the parking lot for like 5 mins trying to look for the best parking spot
3) i check my car for ding and scratch when i get home after leaving it somewhere i can't keep my eyes on
4) i dream about driving the car everynight :Idunno: and sometimes problem appears and afriad its gonna cost a hand and leg to fix it (nightmares)
5) i NEVER let anybody drive my car , not even my best friend and parents :1nono:
6) i always drive like an lady cuz i don't wanna crash my baby or make other drivers upset and scratch my car later (my car is not hard to regonize here)
7) i talk to my car everynight for 10 mins and see if she is feeling ok that day ???:Qboy:

Ok...that's fckued up Mag. I don't even do that. However I do run my fingers over her paint just to make sure there's no fallout on the paint or grime layered on.
Maybe I'm the fcked up one... :p

4. I clean bird poop when i see it.
I leave my car with a dust film on it as I'm convinced it will attract less vandalism
I park at the end of the row (one side exposed to other cars)
I don't go to the entertainement district with my car as my co-worker who has the same e46 color combo as me (orient/beige) got his car vandalize top to bottom and a $5000 re-paint job

I hope I didn't read that what I just saw...  No offense, but at the next meet, park your car further away. :p Dirty car...pet peeve.
Regarding your friends Bimmer parked downtown in the clubbing district, you can park your car doesnt matter what car you have anywhere but if you chance on the vandalism factors, it's meant to happen.
I've worked down at the Entertainment district for almost a year, and I'm talkin Friday Saturday nights, and fortunately no vandalism. My car wasn't modded, just the 17" BBS, always shiny clean jet black but never got picked on. That's from 8pm -4am every weekend.Obviously, choose which parking lot. I'll tell you which ones are the best. You tend to become friends with the lot attendants. Also, your friend may have/had enemies and decided they wanted to get into auto body mechanics the easy way.
If people wann vanadlize, a dirty car and "bullet" sticker on your roundel is not gonna stop them. Just my clubbing district 2 cents.
Ditto of above...+
1) Wash 3-4 times a week
2) Wipe off road dust from trip home from work 5kms (daily!)
3) Vacuum\detail inside weekly
4) Try to find the safest park spot, although I always get a Mini-van\SUV beside me wherever I park
5)Forever tweaking any mods I've done and looking for new one$$$..

I hate POS Mini-van\SUV......I was on St-Denis street in Montreal today, parked withing my lines on the side street.
We were parallel parked and I was sitting and waiting for people then ower of the Volvo SUV parked behind asked me if I could move my car up so he could pull out :thumbsdow :
To all those mammoth Mini-van\SUV, learn your vehicle space

Habits that make people think I'm crazy:
1. Wash 2 times a week. Rims minimum 3 times with pressure washer (I'll refinish them when the paint is gone.
2. I sometimes wash my car at midnight, under a street light (but not with a pressure washer since too noisy and I respect my neighbors that sleep).
3. Any driving longer than 1 hour away, car bra goes on. Then when I arrive, car bra removed, vehicle rewashed. At the cottage, I actually have a car cover because I have to park it outside overnight.
4. Park away from all cars. Usually this means dropping off people and parking myself.
5. I don't like to slow down for corners. I didn't buy the ultimate driving machine to drive it like my old Toyota (which I couldn't drive hard because it was too fragile).
Things that annoy me:
1. Whenever my dad "borrow's" my car, something gets damaged. A new scratch, gouge on interior trim, almost inevitable. I have very little because it is not very often that this happens. Statistically, he is batting .1000 though.
2. Passengers that scratch behind the door handle.
3. Scuffs on door and speaker grills.
4. People who have naturally greasy skin. DAMN fingerprints everywhere, interior, windows, outsider. Also since I have convertible, windows always down and people hang their arms outside. THEIR arms are greasy.

#2 is long nails
#3 is space cadets
#4 ask your passenger to wear long sleeve shirt or take a walk :0

You guys/ gals are wierd.
It's just a CAR don't you know.
I never wash the car (seen rain once this year and one dirt parking lot).
I park anywhere (always seems to be far from everyone or in a corner)
Before going to sleep I do take a look at the halos with the remote mod one more time and then say goodnight.
There will be slippers for guests to use in the back seats and driving shoes for the front passengers at all times.
