of course. it's not how fast the car is, it's the driver and about learning. it's not a race and everyone is there to learn. better to learn in a stock car than one that is modded IMO...hope you join us.

The Mustang was purchased from a SCCA nut in the States - It has ~ 280 to the rear wheels, roll cage, big brake kit, SVO everything and a real fast driver from the Players Trans Am series - Peter (Bennet (April in the Jetta) from Ottawa's friend) will just love chasing you and Yorgi around the track... The Cadillac is very fast and piloted by one of the fastest snowmobile pilots on the planet...

I'm thinking of showing up with R - Compound Dunlop SP SS Race on my 17" wheels - Tire Rack has a great deal right now for ~ $125.00 us.

We should try to go to Watin Glens next summer. I was talking to the guys at Mantis, and they said it was awsome, only like a 4 hour drive from us too and I hear its a really nice drive. We can make it a weekend think, there are lots of BMW events there too. I would love to do this next summer.

yes, renting a US track costs in the 10's of thousands of dollars. I think Hagen was saying he went to a track day with over 300 cars...so not sure I would be into a mass lapping day....

While looking into whether or not A032R 245/40-17's would fit on my 7.5" wheels I also noticed that Yokohama recommends a min wheel width of 8" for those and even the 235/40-17's. Did you have any problems with the 235/40-17 on your M contour wheels?

Another option is 235/45 or 245/45 as those are both OK on 7.5” wheels, but those would kill my acceleration…no biggie I guess…might give you a better chance to catch me on the track. :p :p (I wish)

235/40/17 fit great on the M Contours in 7.5". I know the specs say 8.0 minimum but if you remember one year the M3 actually came with 235/40/17 as OEM spec on the 7.5's. Loved the AO32R's and they lasted forever. I'm really hoping you can make this happen man...

Yokohama is discontinuing the A032R - The new A048's are the replacement - not available in 235/40/17 - only 235/45/17 - I would have preferred the 235's - the 235/40's were available on the A032's, however no stock remaining... I have the 225/45/17's mounted.

Heat cycling consists of bringing the tires up to full operating temperature then immediately letting them cool. The heating up apparently breaks molecular bonds and cooling allows the bonds to re-form resulting in a much stronger rubber compound and therefore results in a longer lasting tire.

If you run straight out and use "green" tires for a long lapping session you run the risk of losing a lot of tread material because the rubber has not yet achieved it strongest form. Some tires are more susceptible to non-heat cycling than others.

The fastest way to get them up to temp is like Stalker said, find a deserted parking lot and do high speed figure eights for a while. Get out and see if the tires are hot and sticky. When they are go home and let the car sit overnight. (I put mine on jack stands but I think that's overkill)

You can apparently also do an hour of highway driving to get the tires up to temp. I plan on testing this when I get back from Buffalo after installing my A032R’s. I have a tire pyrometer and will check the temps when I get off the highway.
