View Full Version : Debadged M3?
Would you debadge a M3 if you own one? Last night I saw a black M3 without it's badge parked outside the Bamburgh supermarket. I think it's an M3 but looks kind of fishy :p
It got the M3 side grill, wheels, quad exhaust but somehow it just doesn't seem to have the m3 feel. Look kinda like my car woot

There is a fake M3 somewhere that I saw on the board....
Maybe he likes a debadged M3 :Idunno:

I would debadge an M3. If I have one I'll try to make it look like a regular coupe trying to pose as an M3. It'll be so much fun smoking unsuspecting drivers who think they're dealing with a 323ci.

Uh...no. IMO there really isn't any rational reasoning for debadging an M3, especially since you paid a premium for those letters too. It's like getting Dinan exhaust, etc. and then filing off the Dinan markings to make it look like an aftermarket part...huh? why?
Why do you think so many M3 fakers are around? Those leters mean something. You'd be better off buying a 330 and spending the extra 40K upgrading it if you want if you want stealth for street racing, than to debadge an M3. :thumbsdow

i would definetly debadge...i like to keep the car clean and i think debadging it helps alot. I dont mind if other ppl think the m3 is a replica or smthin else as long as i know it is real

Sure that's a perfectly valid reason but if you're go to do it, would you at least make it look like a 330? I mean the side M3 grill, quad exhaust, M3 wheels "doh I look like a 330". :^o:

I guess you might as well replace the M3 badge with a 318i badge then if your goal is to trick people into thinking you have a lower model car....
You might as well put a Kia badge on there too.

This thread is going to get messy.
Everytime somebody asks about debadging a M3 on fanatics or any other form all hel brakes lose....
To each his own I guess. Took me 2 years to debadge a 330. Might take me 4 to debadge a M3 :Idunno:

That little M on the back of the car puts you in a very exclusive club worldwide. That car is considered a piece of art in Europe. Our problem is that in Toronto they are somewhat common, but in the real world it is a very exclusive car. I go to Europe 1-2 times a year, believe me there are not that many around, I have only seen 1 or 2 in the last 10 years and I travel all over. Bottom line Keep the badge it's as important to the car as the wheels.

Dude, the original poster is asking "Would you debadge an M3 if you have one?" So I gave my opinion as to what I would do if I have one. It's just my opinion and you're surely entitled to yours and you already gave your opinion on your earlier post, there's no need for you to tell me what to do with a 318i or Kia badge.

it doens't really matter if you keep the M3 badge there or not. there are too many hints to identify a M3 from a regular coupe.
if you like the clean look, debadge it. otherwise, leave it.
who cares if other people think if your M3 is real? do u get an M3 to impress other people or to impress YOURSELF??
for those who can't identify a M3 w/o a M3 badge, I wouldn't spend my time to explain to the person unless the person is willing to know...
just like... why bother to put a HUGE decal on the car to show people you have such and such mods??? if they know, they know... the decal makes no difference other than to make the car RICEY~
glad to see the touchyness (sp??) being resolved... Let's play nice~~~ woot

So 330ci to replace the M3 badge
There are M3 marks all over the car anyway...

that's true, when i was in germany...I didn't see any M3's...and only a couple of 330s.
I wouldn't even consider debadging an M3!...you pay more to get that car, so why get rid of the badge....i was actually thinkin of debadging my 330 and getting an M3 badge instead :blaaaa: then i would really confuse people on the road....

Heheh you go girl. Do the M3 badge thing but while you're at it you should change your side mirror, rearview, side grill, exhaust and wheels too. That should be plenty to confuse people
Our cars almost look like an M3 already so doesn't take too much to confuse people hehe.

I love my debaaaaaaaaged look. But man if I got an M3, I'd worship that badge every time I looked at it. I'd love it so much, I'd photocopy the badge and tattoo the thing on my nether regions...:D
IMHO, debadging an M3 is as bad as placing a M3 badge on a non M. Poseur...:thumbsdow
BTW, the above is my opinion. I don't give a monkey's if you disagree...:yak:
BTW, I also the think the concept of 'sleeper' is juvenile...good for Grade 12.
Also, I'm surprised this type of thread gets 'messy'. Every opinion is valid, even if it disagrees with mine...it won't here...

After a lot of thinking today wether I'd debadge an M3. Decided I wouldnt debadge if I had an M3.
I'm still contemplating if I had a 540 if i would debadge that too. Maybe...err.. i'm not sure. I wouldnt debadge an m5.
I would debadge a 740 like in Transporter, and I'd also debadge a 745 or 760. I looks better. Clean look. And who cares what 7 it is. People know it's a 7.
just my 2 pesos.
I WOULDN'T debadge an M3... leave it original... besides..think of how long it would take some to get an M3...why would I try to make it plain yogurt?
I would however ask the admins here for a E46M3toronto.ca stickie.. woot

I was going to debadge the M. Even considered ordering it without the badge (it was an option up until some time ago in Canada, on the M3 as well). Then I thought I'd keep it, and if I really want to debadge it I could always do it later.
1.5 years later, the badge's still there. It's not like it ruins the lines or anything... :)

Nope, no cost. You could also order it without the rear lip spoiler. Again, no cost. How nice of them :p You can get them "for free" with the car, take them off and sell them to somebody at fanatics for at least a couple hundred bucks :nerd:
