As far as I know that is correct. you can have clear lens but the bulbs have to flash amber.

License plate cover also CANNOT be coloured. I believe the fine is $115. for that one.

So far, I've broken all those laws. But not caught...yet. (knock on wood.)

wat other things are illegal on the street that many ppl still do

1. no front licence plate
2. cell phone w/o hands-free
3. tire rubbing fender
4. loud exhaust
5. ride height toooooo low
6. blue tinted lightbulbs
7. no DRL
8. running red light
9. drink & drive
10. hit & run
11. this one we all do............. speeding

btw.. for the licence plate cover... they are more concerned about the rear ones... not as picky for the front plate cover... because most cameras take pictures of the rear plate...

Whats the rule for the Height requirement in Toronto? I know In vancouver they measure from the bottom of the headlight to the ground must be 50 something cm or around there... and that no part of the car can exceed the lowest part of the rim

I think I am legit too (at least until my reflectors come in). There's is an argument that the HALOs should quailfy as DRLs. :)

I have clear corners with white bulbs. I have been pulled over and they pass. the Ontario Hwy traffic act does not have a set colour for the turns. but White and amber are the "standard" he rule is that it must be visible for 30 meter in any light.

here is the section: 142 sub sec 6:

Requirements for signalling device

(6) A mechanical or electrical signal device shall clearly indicate the intention to turn, shall be visible and understandable during day-time and night-time from the front and from the rear of the vehicle for a distance of 30 metres, and shall be self-illuminated when used at any time from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise.

Uh...it's iffy. The section provides that it is a violation if we make any alteration or attachment to the lights which reduce its effectiveness or brightness. Does not mention replacement.

That section you cited deals with the minimal standard of lighting required for the turn signals. The other section that should be cited is Section 62 of the HWA addresses the colour of the bulbs and states that:

62. (1) When on a highway at any time from one-half hour before sunset to one-half hour after sunrise and at any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavourable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less, every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle shall carry three lighted lamps in a conspicuous position, one on each side of the front of the vehicle which shall display a white or amber light only, and one on the rear of the vehicle which shall display a red light only. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (1).

However, the Minister can make/could have regulations which can limit the colours legally used, which I have not checked on yet.

Has anyone ever gotten a ticket for having non-amber turn bulbs?

So the short terms for this whole statement is that you are allow to use white turn signal light as long as the vision is 30 metres?

I just asked my soon-to-be-brother-in-law who is a RCMP officer. He said it varies by province. I've asked Golpar to ask her friend who is an officer stationed in Brampton.

Judging by the Highway Traffic Act, I think I may be getting those LED signal bulbs after all!! We'll see. :)
