He's a guy on maxbimmer I think. You can go to the maxbimmer forum to see more pictures of the car. He's bringing it to SEMA or some sort of show down in Las Vegas I think.

i'm curious on how it's done

did he strip the whole car down and rebuilt it?

cauz chrome plating involves dipping part in acid, then charge it then the chrome bath then drying.....must cost an arm and a leg to mod

He stripped the whole car down to the bone that is why it looks like that. Widebody kit and it is all paint NOT chromed.

Must have been $$$$$$$

His car has been posted on all the BMW forums that I lurk on.

20 pages on E46Fanatics alone.

I'm assuming that's what was done in order for it to come out properly. that's crazy. :yourmyido originality. Think he got the idea from that chromed-out Jag?

This isn't anything new guys. There is a company in England that makes that paint. I've seen numerous cars done in it including an Audi A8.
It looks pretty cool, but the fingerprints would drive me nuts! :Qboy:

I don't think it is even legal to drive that car on the road.
Almost like a cloaking device from star trek.

Pure show car with a V8 or even something bigger inside the engine bay. He won't say yet.

Welcome aboard M3NTALM3 :yourmyido :yourmyido :yourmyido

If you come out to one of our meets I will personally shake your hand and drool over your car (not too close to touch it though)

As a show car, It has got to be the wildest M3 on the plant right now.

Is the car dirveable now? Is the motor in already!!!

Ah, sarcasm on the net, so elusive for those but the finest writers...:)

IMO, a chromed M3 is a crime. A bit like papa Fayed's 'tribute' to Dodi and Diana at Harrods. Looks like a cheap Parisian whorehouse.

Just an opinion of taste, of course...:D

As a show car or take it for occasional sunny Sunday drive to show-off, I am giving

As a daily or regularly driver car, definetely over the top for my taste; especially considering this is TO and not LA.

Just remember, a clown in the circus will get lots of looks and laughs, for the right reason, the same clown running down the street will also get lots of looks and laughs but for a different reason :D

Good luck at Sema.

P.S. Here is art found in a museum (or racetrack originally) but not on a street:

while i like widebody kits, i was never really feelin' the flossman. the vertical gills on top of the front arch's and the vertical slats on the front bumper ruin the horizontal lines of an M3 (and the e46 in general). they also clash with the M3's horizontal side vents.

http://members.roadfly.com/m3widebody/x8.jpg

plus, the fact that your baby's all chrome, the fewer breaks in the lines and reflections, the better. my 2 cents - consider shaving off the flossman gills - or get this kit... sounds like you have the dough... :blaaaa:

 still, gotta give respect on the idea. no doubt it will win many awards. would really love to see it in person. just to see this car for looks alone, i will definitely come out for a meet. can't wait to hear what you're droppin' in the bay.

also, saw on fanatics that you were considering rain in vegas. been there. you'll have plenty of fun.

fair enough, as that non-M e46 was "widened" to regular M3 proportions on the front.

here's the thread on fanatics with more pics of the red widebody (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?p=2021354#post2021354)...

The red widebody 330ci is pretty nuts. His widebody is completely custom fabricated. Even tho its custom im not a big fan ouf it. He's got the ASA SK3 supercharger plus SS headers, midpipe and exhaust. Im sure he has more in the engine but havent been keeping track of what he's been putting in and taking out. I think someone mentioned he was doing a tranny swap from step to SMG. His seats are Leather Recaro's with full power, heated and cooled seats. The rear's are also custom made by recaro.

If you look at his car, the cheapest mod was probably his 8 series HRE's lol. Even his system alone set him back $50,000 cad. I just heard he replaced one of his audison amps to the audison thesis which costs $13,000 usd. With the money he spent into that car he could be crusing in a gallardo.

hmm, you gotta question peoples motivations

would i rather have a gallardo than a 330? yes i would. there is a limit, in my eyes, to how much someone should pay for mods b4 they should just buy another car... well, if you got that much money, everything is probably a bit skewed.

That wasnt my point, but personally I would take a GT2..

I was just trying to point out the amont of money he put into his car. I dont wanna get into that "why not just get a M3" talk.

again, to each his own.

the styling challenges with a widebody can be handled many ways. custom designers are faced with how to blend the widened wheel arches with the rest of the body, particularly challenging at the point where the arch meets the side skirts. flossman kits have that "running board" which IMHO looks more appropriate on a truck. while i like the red widebody, one thing i consider changing is the scoop by the rear wheel. still, the kit, overall, is very well done and in keeping with the general lines of the e46.

and that colour is off the leash!

the red widebody 330Ci is nicely done.
we should be appreciating all the custom design, creativity, effort & $$$ those people spent to make their car unique.

the same question were asked over and over again...
"with the $ spent, why don't you get a better car??"
does it mean if you get a better car you wouldn't spend more $ to mod it?
is it worth to do it? it depends...
after all, it's all personal preference...

please no 'custom' hating... play it nice~ :wink2:

Nice is good. However, if someone asks a question, they may not like the answer. Personally, I appreciate honesty rather than sycophancy.

The only exception should be when your wife asks 'do I look fat in this dress'. There is only ONE answer! :D
