View Full Version : Still Loving Them Halos

Some 20-ish guy in a tricked out Honda Civic saw my HALOS this morning and almost crashed himself checking them out in his mirrors. He pulled beside me and raved about them and listed his mods (quite a few).

Yup...HALOs are still one of the most stand out mods out there. Not too common yet. LOVE 'EM :D

That's good. People that I meet just assume all BMW's come with angel eyes.

It happened to me for a few times as well ... a pickup truck almost drove into another car at the opposite lane  I feel bad for distracting others :yak:

That's not so bad as other stock BMW drivers wonder "why wasn't I given that option"? :D

Oh, yeah, thanks to your earlier post Reg. One of my eyes went dim but I checked the connection and it was just loose like yours.

Of course, one of my ballasts blew last night too but Chris had an extra one to replace it with.

Sorry, "blew" as in being an electrical component no longer working suddenly. Aren't you an engineer-thing? :D

I still want to know the reason why it didn't work anymore???? :Idunno:

Oh, not sure. Chris detailed my car last night. As I was pulling out..one of my HALOS went out and then the other went a few seconds later. I pulled back up and checked the connections. Nothnig seemed wet or loose. Chris replaced the ballast with an extra one there and it worked fine. He has the busted one now and said he would test it. :Idunno:

It wasn't wet. Nothing was wet under the hood we checked. And I didn't do engine shampoo either.

It was weird, he pulled out the driveway, 1 wasn't working, he stopped, turned off his xenons, then the other went.

So I just switched ballasts and voila, Chris said let there be light... and there was Phosphyre light. Such a beautiful mod but so fragile and finnicky.

Yeah, very fragile things. I hope the winter cold does not destroy them. I guess we'll see soon for many of us. :Idunno:

I have noticed that the ballasts on these things are crap. We installed them on my friend's car about 3 weeks ago. Everything worked and looked great. He drove home and 15 minutes later one side wasn't working.
We screwed around and found that one of the ballasts blew. Contacted Bimmian and they sent out the new parts.
I'm thinking they know that this is a reoccuring issue.
I've heard similar stories all over fanatics and until this problem is resolved I'm not doing this mod. I hate headaches and even worse, heartache, when you know you have a great looking mod, but it isn't working.

The Phosphyre balasts we have from Umnitza is in a nice case with a crappy adhesive backing. I noticed the Bimmian ballasts have no casing but are wrapped up in a tight roll of tape. Almost like a an explosive of some sort. But both are fragile. I agree with heartaches of non-working nice looking mods.

I strapped mine onto the frame of the car with 2 joined electrical ties. It is much more secure than the adhesive tape and I strapped them upside down so where the original adhesive backing was, is on the bottom. I don't think the ballasts are sealed very well. If you look at the blaasts, the back cover has a small gap where moisture can get in.

I put the part that looks like a cover on the bottom so that if any moisture gets in there, hopefully gravity will allow the moisture to escape.

:Qboy: I'm not sure if I am confusing you guys more.
