Where's the best place to install this antenna.

Has anyone had problems with reception with the antenna on their dash?

Dash works fine for me for the portable unit that I carry from vehicle to vehicle.

For the OEM XM, I put the antenna under the plastic shoulder belt 'h ump' in the centre rear (only on cabs, I believe) and reception is excellent in TO (because of the terrestrial repeaters) and slightly below average outside the city. It's a decent tradeoff for my use as I hate the look of the antenna. I also considered putting it under the plastic perforated piece in the hood cowl where some others on M3forum have. Reception there is supposed to be equivalent to putting it on the dash.

You're right. I talked to installers at Budd's Oakville today and they say nothing wrong with putting the satellite antenna on the dash.
thanks.

Congrats man. Glad to see that you like it.

So did you get it activated thru a USA contact so you get all the American channels?

That never even crossed my mind. Maybe I'll try it on the other car. Do I just need to contact my family in the states to activate for me if I buy it over the border? How does that work?

There is a contact in Vancouver who does it all for you. I'll try to find it...

How does that work?Any good local car stereo install shop should have a US contact that will activate it for you. Not sure what they charge you but I think it would be well worth the price.

Guess what? I just picked up a Sirius US activated unit from Satellite Radio in Streetsville. (167 Queen St. Mississauga)
They have everything !! The largest selection of satellite radios including the S50 with MP3 player for Sirius.

If anyone's seriously thinking of getting a radio, this is the place. Their prices are even cheaper than Canadian for the same units.

I bought the Streamer GTR.
Phone 905-593-1467 or www.satellite-radio-source.com

I'll have the unit in my car for Saturday's meet.

What me? Abs-whore-utely not. Innocent me? Are u Sirius?

It's just a coincidence that I happened to be out around lunch in an area full of good lookin' young folk on a sunny day.

Sans BMW, of course.

By the way, the radio rocks.

can't you activate using your US address.

i had no problem with the antenna on my dash near the base of the windshield.

I can activate it, but I'm only going to be here for a few months.
I would prefer to hide the antenna.
