Finally got these puppies installed. Took about 3 hours with 2 of those dedicated to grinding about 1/4" of material off the steering knuckles to allow the caliper carrier bracket to fit.

It was worth the effort. Brake pedal feel is awesome. I'll need some pretty big spacers though if I want to get the track wheels to fit.

Before  and After woot

damn! Can't wait to get mine! Wanna do my install?I wish I had the time. I had to do mine during the week at night. I was working on it from 11:30pm to 2:30am. Then the following day I bled the system with friend.

The install is not much more work than changing your rotors. The only additional effort is the grinding of the knuckles and the bleeding of the brakes.

BTW, for all you Motul believers, it only took 3/4 of a litre of Ate TYP 200 to fully flush the system. There is no beating the ability to alternate between blue and yellow fluid if you ask me.

seems like only the caliper has "grown"Good eye. You are correct, the StopTech rotors are only slightly larger at 332mm x 32mm, stock 330 rotors are 325mm x 25mm (e46 M3 are 325mm x 28mm) The big difference is the thickness (better heat sink = lower temps at the track) and the fact that they are floating rotors.

The monoblock calipers are just awesome. Brake pads are same shape as the 911 Turbo so I now have a huge amount of new track pads available to me compared to the 330Ci and changing pads takes 5 mins now.

Hey Pej, I cannot believe it but you are right about the BBK weighing less than stock.

I wish I had a scale to get the exact difference but I did notice a significant weight difference when I carried up the new BBK from the basement compared to the weight of the same box carrying the OEM brakes back down. At least 5lb lighter for the BBK.

yup, they are def 4 to 5 pounds lighter, the OEM brakes are very heavy. The e46 M3 brakes weigh a ton.

I believe the calipers are, but the disks are steel.

I believe the calipers are, but the disks are steel.Ya, the calipers are forged aluminum. The rotor hat is also aluminum so I guess you save some weight there too.

How is the brake pedal travel ... is it the same as stock or longer (read that it is longer on bbk)? Do you think sitting on someone's rear through the corner still doable :D

My StopTech and Pej's Brembo when I tested them both have about the same feel from what I can remember. Both have very short travel and a nice solid feel.

I wonder how the idea that a BBK would have more travel came about? Maybe bad bleeding? The calipers do not flex like stock since they are monoblock and with 4 pistons compared to 1 you would think the pedal travel would be much shorter.

I think the pedal feel is great and firm as Rick said.
I think the long pedal thing comes form peel getting 8 or 6 piston kits without upgrading their brake boost. I know ppl who do the 8 piston Brembo on th3 M3 complain about the pedal travel. Do you have the rears too Rick?

Im surprised. You should paint the rear calipers.

Rick, what pads did you settle on for the track?I am going to try the Cobalt spec VRe if I can find them. If not I'll go for Carbotech XP10.

Thanks Yorgi and Stalker... it is nice to know.

I wasn't planning to buy it back then so did not spent time researching. Maybe 4 pistons are the sweet spot but if you go more, then the issue arises if you dont increase the master cylinder.
