View Full Version : Rim & Tire questions ??

new owner of 2002 TVM 330ci conv.

I'm looking for thoughts on rims & tires. I'm considering buying new Blizzak LM-22 or Michelin Alpin's for a set of winter tires (unless I can get a good deal on used). I want to mount them on my existing OEM 17" rims and then get a new set of rims for summer.

Many issues, but 2 immediate questions. Should I go with non-BMW rims, if so looking for suggestions?? Also what size is a good fit for summer, can I go to 18 or 19" without suspension or other mods??

Thx all.

That what I did on ne of my car too! a good excuse to get a nice set of 18" or 19" for summer. :blaaaa:

I got a set of Semperit Sport Grid on my stock type 44 last winter. The size is 225/45/17 and it only cost $130/tire. It is a really really good winter tire and is way better than my old yoko and pirelli. I got a set from SpeedStars last year.

First off welcome to E46Toronto.CA
How did you find out about the site?

2002 TVM 330ci conv WOW

For sure go aftermarket 18's or 19's.
The only BMW OEM wheels that I like are on the ZHP's IMHO.

Use your stock 17's for winter use.

I would get 17" snow tires on the OEM rims... there's a group buy going on... check the group buy section...

definitely get some aftermarket rims for summer! then your TVM will look str8pimp

Uh oh. BlueSky's TVM is not unique anymore. I'm not impressed anymore. Sorry Hannice. :wink2:

Careful BlueSky, if this guy out mods you, he might replace you on Team Premier as the official TVM. Ha ha ha. Is that a reason for you to continue modding? Good friends don't let friends run out of ideas on the mod plan.

I know Anthony, mod plans are poofter.

Any ideas for aftermarket 18’s or 19’s? I’m trying to narrow the search down by using other peoples experiences. Also looking for sizing/brand info ??

I’ll try to make Bimmercruise – very close to my house – can’t stay long though got a hockey game

Pictures to come as soon as it stops raining and I can get the shine on :blaaaa:

Awesome Hannice. I don't know if I should be glad that I met you or be mad at you for making spend all this money.
Enarchy dropped by Premier y-day while Eezzie was here and Enarchy was like  since he really last saw the car back in May at Scarborough Bluffs for the BBQ. my mod plan is far from over. Damn....

Ok. Sorry back to thread. We're off topic now.

It depends on your budget...
I've had BBS... they are high-quality rims...
ACS, Hamann, Breyton, Volk, Work, OZ, HRE, iForged are also popular ones....
but... DPE is on top of the list!

I'm more interested in looks then budget. If budget was an issue I would of bought a FORD. :yak:

Any ideas on sizing ??

19's will be str8pimp
u can also run a staggered setup if you want deep lips...

i'll be running 19x8 & 19x10 in about 2 days...
w/ tires 235/35-19F & 265/30-19R

this setup will be the wildest for a non-M coupe...

Any websites around where I can check out some of the rims?? Local supplier preferred??

Hey another person from Mississauga

Most of the meets are at either Yorkdale or at the Starbucks on Dundas near the Silver City.

If money is no object HRE 800 series wheels for sure but plan on at least $5500 USD plus another $1000+ on tires and shipping :crying:

DPE's and Iforged are also big brands on E46Fanatics right now so take a look at some pics there.

There are no local stores that sell wheels. They all order them from the US. Since the cad$ is good now. I suggest buying from Sam at Rennsport!!!

Come to Bimmercruise for sure. The only place to see aftermarket wheels for our E46's for sure.

Rennsport is in California.

Actually I do travel to California & around US once in a while. Perk or curse of job, depending on how you look at it.

Where would they be in CA? Got a website for contact info??

I will look at Bimmercruise to see what I like though.

Any ideas on what size tires I can get on my 330ci, if I get 18" or 19" rims?

If you are going 1 size all around (non-staggered setup) 235/35/R19 or 235/40/r18.

If staggered go for 235/35/r19's up front and 265/30/r19's on the rear

Rims? I love the BBS CHs, but I am biased...our TVM guru had them on and I fell in love with the look...maybe Hannice could send you some old pics...

HM2s are always beautiful...

I have to say BBS for aftermarket rims. They are light and strong. If you're not going for performance, 19' are alright too.
