How many members would seriously consider changing their OEM Head Units (Business CD PLayer) to Aftermarket decks?

I detest my OEM head unit. But I do love the steering wheel radio controls so that would be a deciding factor on whether to replace the OEM unit or not.

I would agree,
would also need an Ipod hook up
Also it would almost look the same

Requirements for after market deck:
- iBus integration (steering wheel controls, speed sensitive volume adjustment, temp/time display)
- Support factory trunk mounted changer
- MP3 capable, in the head unit and via the CD Changer in the trunk
- iPod capable, either via Aux input or even better direct connection option
- Direct fit mounting either as is or via filler face plate
- Reasonable price
Optional requirements
- Cell phone integration, (Bluetooth or via "headset to aux input cable")
- In Dash multi-disk changer (a la eclipse decks)
Uber Geek requirement
- DVD NAvigation unit with pop out 5" screen that supports all above features for under $2000 (a la pioneer AVIC)
Does seem like a tall order, but the newer factory decks support most of those functions directly and supplement some via options. This will provide options to people that have earlier versions of the deck to gain some of the functionality without having to hunt around for factory deck at a good price.

Chris, are you thinking of offering an adapter kit with harness and plate to allow the install of standard DIN decks or are you thinking of offering a complete head unit with everything?

Alpine KCE 864-B and KCE 861-B BMW steering wheel controls adapter works with compatible decks for audio controls only.
iBus integration would offer full support for speed sensitive volume controls and temp/time display for the OBC functions.

I would want a double din...that has gps and dvd...one of the ones where it is basically just a 7" screen...and then it slides down to reveal the cd/dvd slot....and relocate the a/c controls lower in the console, where the cigarette lighter/ashtray thing is...
would also need to have the trim kit look just like oem so it looked as stock as possible...

Yeah I"m looking for something like a clarion, kenwood or ALPINE DVA5205 In Dash DVD Player to put in my car. An adaptor kit would work well!

Im getting rid of my sony aftermarket deck for an OEM one. I want the controls on the steering wheel to work plus I want to hook up my iPod to my car.
I think the OEM head unit flows better with the interior... i hated how my aftermarket head unit sticks out.

Hello Yorgi
Bavarian Soundwerks has an adaptor that retains steering wheel controls with aftermarket head units. I'm thinking of getting one if I replace my hd unit.
