a little bird told me there is a possibility of a Porsche Carrera GT coming....
Ariel is confirmed to be there. Dave left yesterday morning to go pick it up himself...what a round trip...GM had it at a test facility in Detroit, but because of timing and they can't keep it on GM grounds after their event, they had to send it back to Oregon...so that is where Dave has to drive to pick it up....

If a CGT makes it out I'll be doing more spectating than driving. I still have no track wheels so I think I won’t be doing much driving anyway. At least there are lots of cool cars to watch and take pictures of. woot

CGT is so droolI've been watching for a used set of 18" wheels that are non-M, lightweight and non-staggered. Have yet to find a set. I would have just bought Supperleggera new but there is no stock left in the size I need. I do not like the Ultraleggera enough to pay full price for them.

sure. I just don't like launching for a 1/4 mile, hard on the car and makes it more subjective to whoever gets a good launch/tire hook up.

Oh my gawd! That was the best track day ever! I think it even tops Glen’s stag n’ track day. woot
Many thanks to Glen for putting on the ultimate car geek day. :yourmyido
There were 2! Carrera GTs, a McLaren SLR and a Viper GTS. And of course the Atom plus 2 formula cars, 2 cobras, a Ferrari F430 bla bla bla... It was heaven. drool
We got taken out in the Atom by a pro Star Mazda driver. Watching him drive was almost as much fun as the ride which was unbelievable. The cornering speed was mind-blowing. And the car is so open, you can see the curbs, the suspension moving, the drivers pedals, everything is there to see.
There will be tones of pics, I took about 400 and Slava was there taking pics the whole day. I passed out early so I have not even looked at mine yet.

Friends of friends...god I would love this guy to be my sugar daddy anyday.
one guy...note, ONE guy brought in a covered transport trailer the F430, Mclaren SLR, Carrera GT AND had a luxury tour bus-motorhome brought for his resting comfort....friggin unbelievable!!!!!
2 Superformance Cobras...what a amazing day and no rain.
Yah, Brent was driving the Ariel for the demo runs and if you think about how amazing the ride was, just remember it was the first time he sat in the car, the car was never run before that day and it was not setup in anyway and running on street tires...
this guy was left foot braking around every single corner sliding and moving the back of the car around like it was dancing at 100+km's...I am truly not worthy...I really don't remember him braking that much around the corners, it pretty much seemed like he was going flat out the whole time...wow...wow...wow...
Laurance Yap from the Star Wheels also showed up to review the Atom and hopefully it will make this Saturday's Wheels. He said maybe front page material!!!!! man does it get any better than this???

Yorgi and I tried to get some on-track following/getting past by one of the Carrera GT's and it was hilarious being in Yorgi's car trying to catch up to one. Yorgi's street tires were already greasy from the whole day and pretty much every corner he was drifting...(fun for me) but we never could catch the Porsche which looked like it was out for a Sunday drive...no effort, no sway, no movement through the corners, it was just blast off in the straights...meanwhile Yorgi's car was going crazy through the corners ha ha....
never caught up to it so we decided to pulled in and wait in the pits so we could get in front of it on a lap and of course it had to pull into the pits.... :thumbsdow :crying:

CGT is most amazing car I have heard in my life besides F1 cars...
sound just like the videos with the high pitch howl only louder! it doesn't even sound like a gas engine, more like a turbine...i have no idea how they make it sound like that, none of the mechanical sounds a regular engine makes.
Yorgi
07-26-2006, 04:14 PM
I agree totally. I am having a hard time explaining to co-workers what the CGT sounds like. I keep saying it is nothing like any other internal combustion engine I’ve ever heard. Sort of like a much quieter F1 engine.
I think what you are hearing when the CGT is at WOT is mostly induction noise mixed with a little matching high pitched exhaust note. The howling sound is just magic.
Our attempt to capture the sound on video was quite funny. We thought it would be easy to catch up to the car within a lap but the damn car was so fast we could not catch it, which I swear is a first for me when it comes to exotic cars. Most drivers of cars costing over $200K usually either don’t have the experience to go fast or they are too worried about wrecking the car so they are easy prey. The damn CGT just took off into the distance, and you could tell the guy was just putting around, not even using half of the cars potential.
