Have you ever noticed no one sells a curved plate cover when our cars have a curved front bumper?

I was bored and had nothing to mod the other day so I finally decided to fix the annoying flat front plate cover I got from CTC.

So I took off the plate cover, wrapped it up with bungee cord and wedged a 2 inch block behind it to enforce the right amount of curvature that I want. I then used a heat gun to heat it up for 5 minutes or so and voila, a curved plate cover after it cooled down.

I curved the plate by hand. It's very malleable and requires very little force. Just grab both ends with your hands and position your thumbs towards the middle and push just enough to get the desired bend.

Nice work...make sure the curvature does not distort the view of any letters/numbers on your plate or you'll be "hearing" about it. :)

Thanks for the advice, Chopper. I checked and it's all good.... the plate actually require less curvature than the cover. Just enough to sit it inside the cover.

Nice tip Josel... Keep it in mind for future mod.

Quickid, Did you heat gub a particular area only on the plate, or you do the overall plate surface. And based on 5mins, how far did you hold the heat gun?
This is a cool diy.

I heated the whole area and the heat gun was about 4 inches away. You gotta go by feel depending on how powerful your heat gun is and what kind of plate cover you're using it on.

Sad. It took me a week to realize what DIY meant.

Jos,

We need pics of the plate on the car :)
Nice for a free DIY mod.
