dealer will be your best bet for the relocation kit...
you can DIY the installation... it shouldn't be that hard...

Thanks Asmodeus! :}: Actually what I'm planning to do is to fit a screen on where the cassette deck and climate control located now. Into something like this.....

Was interested on installing AVic-N1 before but now probably just gonna go with the Eclipse HU/Gps. Still lookin for one where I can get it tho in Toronto area. Does KHF has this unit?

lots of work are involved in that Kenwood setup...
1st of all you will need that custom bracket (which would cost u at least $300). 2ndly you will need to modify the air vents (modifying the air route to the center vents) in order to clear the rear of the unit... I guess you will be looking at aroud $1K for all the work to fit in any double din unit...

The Eclipse AVN2454 requires the same work as the DDX7015... btw the Eclipse retails for about $4K CDN...

it requires lots of custom work & $$$, but they look good though...

Wow...thanks a bunch Bluesky =) Should I just buy the Eclipse off the internet or just get it at a local retailer together with the custom installation? Any idea?? Sorry for buggin u = :blaaaa:

if you are lucky... eBay sometimes has listings for the AVN2454...
BUT... the going rate for brand new is $2K+ USD which is not much cheaper than getting it here locally...

KHF has the skills to do all the custom work for u... but expected to pay big bucks for labour...

look into the thread on E46fanatics regarding to the DDX7015 under Mobile Entertainment section... u will find more info there... ;)

Thanks again Bluesky!! I'll do my homework on this. I guess I gotta start saving some ca$h and be prepared for the worst scenario! Ok last question, do you think it's worth it to get this unit? or just go with avic-n1 or kenwood shown in the picture above? THANKS...no more question for tonight I promise :1nono:

personal choice... if you don't mind the look for a flip out... it will be the most economical way to get a mobile entertainment unit w/ NAVI...

but if looks is important to you... then definitely go ahead and do the custom work...

I had been looking at the Eclipse unit too... it is supposed to be better than the Kenwood unit... but the Kenwood unit is a bargain even if you match it up with the Kenwood NAVI...

Maybe when u're getting the Eclipse...avn2454 you can just call me up so we can get it together?? To get better price for both of us??? :wink2: alrighty...

Im actually in the process of looking for a OEM nav retrofit kit for my M3, which will come with a climate control relocation bracket, so that should also solve your problem, if I find it, I let you know. Does anyonne know where I can get the kit by any chance.

Pej, retrofitting the OEM Navi is huge work... there was a thread on fanatics... the guy almost tear apart the whole interior to retrofit the kit... but nothing fits better than the OEM widescreen Navi...

Ya I saw that, thats where I got the idea. I have seen some other threads too, but they did not tear apart the car as much.

Does anyone find a big problem with using the flip out screens? Does it block the vents too much?

Will the double DIN look better than a flip out?
