Hey, just wondering what tire pressure to run for my track day tomorrow.

Currently, cold is set at 32 fronts and rear. Do I bump them up 3 or 4 psi for the track?

Also, since I have to travel say 150 kms to the track, I should bump up the inflation once I'm there? Would there be any downfall for riding all the way to Shannonville from Toronto on the higher psi? If I should get there before I inflate, then aren't the tires warm by then? How much psi then?

So many questions!

If it makes any difference, I'm on 17" Michelin PS2's. Car is pretty neutral now with the UUC sway, so I'm not looking to change the balance by having different pressure fronts/rears, etc.

Usually I just adjust the pressure at the Sunoco gas station at Shannonville.

This is what people suggest to do if you are not sure about the correct PSI.

Pump it up to let's say 40PSI. Remember it is always easier to release the pressure.

Put chalk on the edges of your tire, in three places around the diameter, and you can see how far over the tire was going during your runs. Bleed out a little if the chalk is still showing on the tread, or add a little more if the chalk has been worn off down the sidewall. The line of worn chalk to remaining chalk should be right at the corner of the tread and sidewall. Keep notes on how many psi you ran, and where the chalk line was, for your next event.

Happy tracking.

You can try to have a 2psi diff front to back, to get rid of the understeer a bit. Don't go too high though, or else it will feel squimish.
