I am looking at buying a set of 19" rims.
But I heard that I have to roll the fenders. Must I do that for all 19" rims or does it depends on the width of the rims?
What else do I need? Spacer? I am a total novice in this (or pretty much anything about mod for that matter). Or should I get 18" to save all the trouble?
I kinda like:
1. ACS Type III
2. BBS CH
3. Breyton Magic
4. O.Z. Superleggerer III
What does everyone think? :Idunno:

ACS or Superleggera...unless the 19s are worth all the hassle, stick to 18s and you can also trim the excess fat :D

Why not the ACS Type IV? I've yet to see anyone in TO with them.

go for 19's... the choices you have shouldn't require you to roll fenders...
amongst the choices... BBS CH will be the lightest... then ACS Type III... then LaggaraIII.... Magics will be the heaviest!!!

Falken Koblenz rims, 20x8.5 with Falken Azenis Luxury Performance Tires ST-115, 245/35x20, direct filtment to e46 without rolling or suspension modifications. Cost you about $3700.00 +taxes. But you need a body kit to make it "work".

Can you elaborate more about needing a body kit to make it work?

CH always look the best but I think the 1 piece laggara is way lighter than CH, well... may be the 3-piece laggaraIII is more heavy :Idunno:
Others is my choice. Do you like the HRE or DPE? They are very nice.

Go with what you like the most in your eyes. :}:
Magic's are nice with the deep lip and sice they are made for BMW's no fender rolling is needed. The O.Z. Superleggerer III are very nice too but may be very $$$. If you stick with wheels made for BMW's no spacers or centering rings will be needed unless you want to bring your wheels out futher to be flush with the body.

id go for acs type iii among those u have listed...but what about some dpe or hre?
If I had to pic one of those they'd be the superleggera III's, they look HOT on m3's but not so hot on sedans and coupes

I don't know much about DPE. I love what I saw on their website though.

I love your rims!!! They rock!!!
However I think for my cab I need something with softer lines since I don't plan to do a whole lot to it other than maybe changing to clear lights and M3 mirrors.

cabrio, sorry for getting back so late. The rims look better if they are installed with a lower body kit ie. side skirts, front and rear bumpers.
If you subscribe to European Car magazine, Falken always has an ad in there that shows a 4 door e46 with the rims, tires and body kit. It looks really nice.

I believe 20" rims require fender rolling and I'm not sure how that will affect the resale value of the car.
I think I'll just stick with 19".

get a quality rim, Breytons are heavy and a little soft, so you might warp one on our roads. You can't go wrong with ACS, BBS and OZ. ACS are heavier than the OZs or BBS rims, plus they are rather $$$. How much you looking to spend on rims and tires, thats always a good starting point, then work from there.

Thanks a lot for the valuable inputs.
I like all the rims mentioned, they all look amazing. I am looking for something used < $2K.

If you are ok with buying used, there are always lots of nice rims for sale on e46fanatics.com. ACS and OZs from what I remember will run you more than 2Gs, they are really overpriced, especailly the ACS. Rennsport will give you the best price on rims also, and they will declare it nice and low too, to save some $$$ on taxes.
