Well most of you guys know about the ZHP package for the 330ci.

Look at the pics for the 05 ZCP package for the M3.

As the title suggests, BMW has changed the name of the package from ZCS (Club Sport), to ZCP (Competion Package). Here is the offical BMW confirmation:

New for MY2005, we are pleased to introduce the M3 Coupe Competition Package. The Competition Package
takes the already benchmark-setting performance and handling of the M3 to an even higher standard. It has been
developed, tested and manufactured by the engineers at M GmbH. The package reflects M’s years of experience
and dedication to racing and performance.
The competition package features:
• Compound and cross-drilled brake rotors.
• Larger front brakes – the front brake diameter increases from 12.8’’ to 13.6’’ (the rear diameter remains
12.9’’).
• 19’’ cross-spoke forged wheels with high performance tires.
• Steering ratio is more direct – 14.5:1 vs. 15.4:1.
• Modified suspension calibration (shocks and springs) fine-tuned for larger wheels and cross-drilled
compound brakes.
• M track mode – a new DSC setting allows for sportier driving and less intrusive DSC intervention. The
regular DSC setting is still the default, unless track mode is selected.
• Alcantara sport steering wheel (no multi-function steering wheel or cruise control buttons) and handbrake
grip.
• Special aluminum trim and new exterior Interlagos Blue (A30) metallic paint.
• The Competition Package is also available with manual and SMG transmission (793), and all M3 Coupe exterior paints and upholsteries. The standard Competition Package Aluminum trim cannot be modified.

The wheel is Alcantera and is even thicker than the OEM M3 wheel !

The size of the discs must have some relation to the brake biasing and the smaller pad surface area of the rear calipers than the fronts.

ZCP package is an extra $4k US. I don't know the price in Canadian or even if it is available here.

 that steering wheel is huge, don't think my hand can cover it up and aren't those wheel the same as the CSL

Yup steering wheel is the CSL with the cruise control delete.

Interior CF trim is from the ZHP. I think the seats are from the ZHP too non powered of course.

The wheels are not the CSL's as they are forged. These wheels are cast and .5 inch less in width.

The 13.6’’ compound and cross-drilled brake rotors are to die for woot

I like some of it, and some of it I would not take. The new colour is really nice though. Hopefully someone will buy one and come to our meets, Im curious to see it.

They aren't the true CSL wheels though. Only 9.5 at the rear and not as light.

very nice. too bad about the multi-function wheel though. wish i had the change lying around for a new M3. e90 M3 is still on my 3-year plan.

That colour looks wicked!

The new M3 wheel is thicker than the old M3 wheel. I dunno why that is. My friend just came back from HK and he bought an M3 wheel and it was even fatter than the M3 wheel from previous years.

I like, but I also have big hands.... woot

Still dont like those headlights, but love the wheel. It looks like a small tire by its thickness. Too bad for my darn triangle steering wheel preventing any upgrade. :(

i found something weird

• Larger front brakes – the front brake diameter increases from 12.8’’ to 13.6’’ (the rear diameter remains
12.9’’).

if u don't have ZCP package... M3's front disc is smaller than rear .... 12.8 in the front... rear is 12.9 :Idunno: ???????

Yes that is correct. I don't know why BMW M does it that way either :Idunno:

Oh yeh, I forgot about that.

I've been looking though the KVR site Glen

I wonder how much it would cost to install the ZCP's brakes onto a regular M3

glenspeed
11-17-2004, 03:08 PM
probably not worth it...better off looking for a good price on Brembo BBK's or stick with Euro rotors.

glenspeed
11-17-2004, 03:25 PM
the good thing with something like KVR's two piece disk is that you can just buy replacement rotors and not the whole hat/rotor when they wear. It is probably the next step up from Euro rotors and below full BBK IMO

the way I see the costs are:

Euro rotors F/R: $800 CAD
Two piece racing rotors F/R: $2000 CAD
BBK F/R: $6000 CAD

So the two piece racing rotors are a pretty cost effective solution for track days before going to the much higher expense of a BBK. You won't get the nice big colored calipers that's all!

love the rims on the '05...but i'm not a big fan of the alcantra steering wheel....i wonder if you can opt for a leather steering wheel instead like with the zhp. it's too bad that the wheel is no longer gonna be multi functional..i wonder why they eliminated that? the trim looks nice....i can't wait to see the 06 model tho cause the exterior will be drastically different.

The only button on the wheel is the enhanced track mode for the DSC. No more cruise control or radio functions. I think you could even opt out of a radio :confused2
The wheel is an even thicker version of the M3 wheel so no leather option. The trim is like the ZHP's silver cube trim I think.

opt out of a radio?? :confused2 that's really strange...i guess they're trying to simulate a race car where drivers don't listen to anything except the car/shifting and the road :confused2 the trim is exactly like the aluminum cube trimming...except this blue colour will be cool! the silver that's in the cars right now doesn't look that nice...black is better....but blue will be cool (but it depends if it matches with your interior tho).

even though I have upgraded my stock system and I love listening to music, I find most of the time (90%) I don't turn it on and prefer to listen to the engine...especially in sport mode... so not so strange!!!!

Glen, explain your audio upgrades.

I know it doesn't bug you glen but when I rev the motor I always hear the rasp....

Soon it will be gone though. I wonder of the CSL has the rasp too?

glenspeed
11-19-2004, 10:27 AM
CSL doesn't have much of a rasp. If you listen you can still hear it, but no way near the regular M3. Also because it has thinner exhaust walls, Euro header and exhaust, different cams and intake. So totally different animal.

Stereo upgrades, Focal separates in front, removed rear speakers and subwoofer, added Infinity Basslink subwoofer. It's amazing how good 5 speakers versus 10 will sound... the biggest difference was changing out the front separates. I mean the HK speakers are garbage, there was actually frequencies that you couldn't even hear before!! It sounds amazing now. I'm more of a quality guy, so no bass thumper here or SPL, but just great sound. That being said, the Infinity can produce quite good bass even though I have it turned way down.

CSL has next to no rasp, have you ever heard the noise the intake makes on it, OMG, its so amazing. Check out the Top Gear vid on it, unreal how it sounds. Eric, did you get the Stebro pipe, I hear its pretty damn heavy. I hate the rasp too.

yah, the intake sound is to die for...hopefully the K&N will get our cars closer to that kind of sound...I would be happy if it sounded 25% like that with the K&N.

Have you heard the Larini midpipe with Euro headers? That sounds pretty damn good...but **** it's $2K US, plus another $2K US for headers, that's like $5K CAD!!!!

Stebro section 1 is ready to go. I just hope the UPS strike doesn't hit us too hard with shipping times. Just downloaded the video this morning. I might not have to buy a muffler at all. The OEM sound without the rasp is beautiful IMHO.

Maybe I'll just get some 3" tips welded on.... :blaaaa:
