I recently purchased a carbonio carbon fibre intake system!
i was wondering if ppl can give me some input on whaty u think of the cai systems that u have installed in your car! gruppe m or carbonio! there all the same!
wat are your likes and dislikes? any problems with stalling or check engine light?
the intake looks like the intake in the picture below!
im goin to be installing it soon in my car, so i hope ppl could give me there input!
one thing that im not liking so far is the thought of me having to cut that inner kidney plastic piece!
say i wanna put ca back to stock how much is it for a new one? or can i still put the stock one back in?
and last question, is it worth for the power gains? and how does it sound?
thanx for the input guys

I did not know you had to cut anything. I thought it was a simple plug and play intake. Gruppe M owners or previous owners, did you have to cut any plastic?

I've been looking for intakes for the M3 and the AFE looks to be the best for HP gains right now and is costs less than the rest of them. Reports of the new K&N filter for the M3 is that it is even cheaper and flows good too.

Some people have had stalling problems with the AFE supplying too much air but usualy after a day or two of driving the computer adopts to the new found air and changes its parameters.

BTW. that pics is of the replica Tuner intake molded after the Gruppe M

Yes, you do have to cut it. Make sure you follow the pattern given to you in the carbonio installation guide. It is not a flat cut. The center should be higher than the edge as it needs to go in the slot on the carbonio lip.
And make sure the bottom lines up with the air tunnel beside the fog light before you tight it up.
You will feel immediatley quicker throttle responsiveness and the sound is very nice.
The only discomfort is this thing blocks your headlights, so if you do decide to change your headlights to xenon or halo, do it before you install the intake system. Otherwise it could be messy. I had it for about three months. No problem at all. Love it.

no cutting involved in Gruppe M. I have been doing some research since I sold my Gruppe M, and none are worth the $$$ yet, so far Dinan intake makes the best performance case, but thats mostly because it comes with software and uses a quality filter. The AFE one is very heavy and is not really a true cold intake because parts of it are exposed to the engine compartment.

The Dinan looks to me like the best engineered one for the $$$, but I don't want to spend that much on an intake...I think you would also have to get the larger throttle bodies as well to take full advantage.

Screw that, I am going to make my own CAI. I'll let you know how it goes...

I agree with Glen, but I think that for it to all work, with the software, Dinan makes you get the exhaust too, which is BS.

Check out a PM that I got....

well on the dinan web site is 1499 $ new right now,
i paid $1800 6 month ago from a retail store,
so $1000 + 30 bux shipping i think is fare , only used it for 6 month it's still new...

I'd like to get the Dinan intake but used for 1K US

its to much, I checked with him too, plus, thats just for the intake, he paid that price for the intake and software. No point in just getting the intake and no software. The Dinan intake is just plastic, $1000USD, hell no. If that somehow included software, then I would have considered it.
Eric, have you picked up Jessica's car yet?
