Uh oh...seems like only a few incidents, but they have been addressed by Jim Conforti, nonetheless...

Whoa! That's scary. Almost as scary as halo breaking. I hope I don't have that problem with MarkD software.

Hey Surk, have you experienced anything like that?

How about you Quickid with Shark? I know you do track also. Notice anything?

Anything to do with the gas perhaps? I'm not sure how big of a factor that is with software, but Ack did mention 93 octane Mobil or Sunoco, we're all running 94 Sunoco up here though.

It's highly unlikely that you will hear any pinging with the software I supply unless your motor has a problem. Nobody at all has mentioned pinging.
Also, my software is tuned for 94 octane, so it't going to develop more power than the other brands.

Let us know how it's going after 6 months...

Well, it doesn't work like that... If it's going to ping because of the software it would have done it by now.... if pinging develops after 6 months, it has nothing to do with the software.

After reading the posts, it seems related to California gasoline and affecting 330s mostly. I didn't know they have a different gas formulation in California :Idunno:

Who here has a 330 with software mod?

Actually, Ack's in Buffalo. Also, you mention 'software', I have not read about any problems with Dinan, etc...only Shark

I was talking about the link provided by Chris and was asking for software modded 330s altogether to get a sampling as to who has what kind. I wanted to see if anyone reports pinging and see if it can be correlated to the type of software they have. However the sample is probably too small to be statistically significant anyway.

I have a 330i w/Dinan engine performance software. Installed in Mar '04. I only fill up w/94 oct. (except when I'm in the States). No probs to report or (trust me) everyone on the board including Sam & Phil will here about it. I'm happy w/it. :)

Thanks for the info ezzie....

So far I'm happy with the Shark for my 323. Note too, that the Shark for 323/328 has been around a lot longer than the Shark for 325/330s so there are enough success stories out there for me to be concerned. If it ever becomes an issue I'm glad I have the ability to restore to stock and re-install on my own.

I have a 02'330Ci w/ UpSolute Chip installed in Sept'04.
It's not actually a OBDII software upload but a physical chip flash...
no problem at all and a few members have tired and they liked it... woot

I'm hoping to EAT the 328 as soon as the warranty's up...Xmas 2005...

Heard so many good things about EAT, Dinan, Upsolute and Shark...I want them to be flawless:thumbsup:

I'm not a great lover of compromise where my car is concerned.
