Thanks Chrissy and Jeff for the pickup
BBS CH 18x10 all the way around on 275's RA1's. Have to use 10mm spacer and front and I'm trying 15mm in back. Wish I didn't have to use spacers, but at least this way I can rotate all my rims any time. Heavier than the SSR's I had, but I don't think many rims will be that light in this width unless you go magnesium... drool

yep, that's the beauty of these track tires. they look like shiite when you bring them across, but that's the way we like 'em lol
the one you brought back actually looked pretty good. the ones I brought previously really had the crap qualified into them and there was tons of melted rubber on the tire. to most people, it would have looked like a fire recovery tire lol.

not staggered but comes to the same. I had 9.5 all around, but different offsets for front and rear. It was pretty much a "custom" setup as you couldn't get the perfect front and rear offsets that I had unless you bought different sets. But that also meant no rotation.

I can't imagine 285's all around. the 275's look crazy in the front as it is...
Yah, the SSR's are amazing rims and not much will be as light. The special set that I had was the perfect offset without spacers...pretty amazing. I wish BBS would have more available offsets so that you can customize the rim sets...

Couple more questions
- any idea how hard would it be to fit 18"x10J CHs with 40 offset
to E46M3 ?
- is that a bad idea to use those for the street with 255/40/18 tires on them ?

40 offset won't fit for 10's. you need 35 offset at least front/rear

Strange, tiretack recommends offset 40 for 18x10 at rear for E46M3.
What is the offset on yours ? And why 40 won't fit in your opinion ?

the rims are offset 40, but they will give you spacers that make the offset 30 or less.
mine are 25 offset with spacers in the rear.

40 is way to high out back for the M3. It might work for a nomral 3 series but thats it.

I'm still confused with offset calculations. From my calculations to fit 10" in
the rear with same width between internal rim sides I would need negative
offset about 38.7mm.
I guess there is a flow in my calculations. My logic is as following. I want to have
internal side of the rim at the same place as for standard 18x9. Standard 18x9 has
offset 26. Because center line of 18x10 rim would be about 12.7mm out of center
line of 18x9 (preserving place of rim internal side) I added 12.7mm to 26 and
end up with negative offset of 38.7mm. Looks ok to me. But if I try to calculate
offset for 18x10 in front, I'm getting negative 72.4mm 8( 47 + 25.4 = 72.4, Where
47 is offset of 18x8 rims and 25.4mm is the defference between center lines.
Doesn't look right anymore :(
I interpret offset as a difference between rim's center line and rim's mount plate line.
Negative means to me that center line is external compare to mount plate line, where
external side of rims is the one facing out.
Please correct my calculations if I've got it wrong. Thanks for help.

I think your offset calculations should go in reverse. The more negative the offset, the more the dish is towards the outside. To keep the inside of the rim the same distance from the inside, you have to move the offset lower with a wider rim.

I understand you have GC coilovers. Would it be possible to

GC is slightly softer in compression than stock, but with rebound adjusted higher it feels stiffer but not harsher. slightly stiffer springs control the sway as well.
it's actually less harsh than stock over bumps in the city, but in curves keeps the car flatter and more responsive on turn-in.
overall cars feels much more planted than stock without more harshness over bumps.

Thank you. But I was wondering more about camber and ride hight.
Did you set more negative camber in front ? Is your car lowered ?
It seemed like 10mm spacer wasn't enough in front. Yet 10mm seemed
ok at the back. Why did you need to use 15mm at the back ?

it's at 13" and 13.5" ride height. about -1.8 and -1.6 camber front/rear
I could have used the 10mm at rear too, but I had a 15mm as well and it fit better.

Interesting that your fronts don't stick out that much compare to mines.
It also could be due to some degree to 285 tires I have on wheels at the
moment. When 275s arrive I'll try to see if 10mm in front will not rub and
will allow me to do full lock in turns. Thanks for help.

There is also a trick of swapping shock mounts between left and right and
rotating them, which gives up to 3 degree more. But I don't know if this will
be OK for street driving and tire wear. Good for track though, if you don't
have proper camber plates.

I'm not sure about doing that since it might put the angle of the strut mount outside of it's intended design. You can get almost -2 with what I did YMMV and that's plenty for street and fine for track.
