View Full Version : Strange Clicking Sound

I am getting an intermittent faint clicking sound from the glove box area when my fogs are running. I just put in the PIAA Xtreme White bulbs in the fogs last week and they may be causing some sort of shorting or something? somehow?
At first it sounded like a ticking bomb :D but it comes at ramdom intervals.
I'd rather not remove the bulbs as I love them and it was very difficult to remove the bumper trim to get to the housings.
Has anybody had anything like this happen? Suggestions?

I got that clicking noise when I disconnected my DRL after the Phosphyre halos were installed.
I think it is the computer cycling through the electronics. I plugged back in my DRL and it went away.
I unplugged again and noise came back. So I plugged them in again.
If anyone has a resolution, please let me know.

Hmmm...I dont get it when my fogs are off and my DRLs are always disconnected. Maybe the HALO wiring is making the noise behind the passenger dash.

Reg is right Ed,
It's from running the fogs with the DRL's disconnected. If you turn the fogs off, the ticking goes away.
The only way to fix it is to get the DRL reprogramed to off.

Makes sense but I did not have the ticking when the stock yellow bulbs were in the fogs up until last week.
I thought the power draw on the PIAAs was exactly the same as the stocks. Dont you also run PIAAs? No clicking sound?

The clicking only started about a month ago for me. I didn't have it originally.
It might be coincidental timing. I have the stock yellow bulbs.

The sound is because you have the dash warning lights on telling you that the DRL's are disconnected. PIAA's or stock, it's both the same.

Ed, check in that bay where the battery is supposed to go under the hood. The little unit that's grounded might have come loose.
7jkt1 had the same problem.
I haven't had any problems with unplugged DRLS and running fogs or anything like that.

Sounds good. Thanks, I'll check it. I assume I am looking for a loose wire near the grounding terminal, right? Cant remember the wiring set up. :)

Yes. It should be one that is bolted on to the side of of the metal chassis with a loop terminator. It will still be connected to the other part but just moving around. It needs to be re-bolted.
