Anybody know where I can get sway bars. I have the OEM sport suspension and the car does not feel very planted when I got thru twisty or corners. I'll probably be getting coils next spring, but want to see if I can improve the steadiness with sways now.
I guess the other question is what brand is good?

UUC (the most popular one) - http://uucmotorwerks.com/

Thanks for the info. I'm checking it right now. Is there anywhere in T.O. I can get sways?

For any aftermarket sway bars to reduce (eliminate) sqeaking/creaking,
put plenty of grease on the bars and inside the bushings. Some people also wrapped teflon plumber's tape around the swaybar where the bushing will cover it.
For grease you can use a combination of white lithium grease and copper anti-seize inside the bushings.
UUC is a good choice but they are a bit more expensive than RD because they are made from chromoly, rather than mild steel and paint coated. Plus they have adjustable rear links and base RD does not (you can order RD with adjustable rear links but then their total price goes up).
From Bimmerfest FAQ:
Q: What's the size (diameter) difference between the different sway bar manufacturers?
A:
Swaybar front/rear
SP Stock 24mm/20mm
Eibach 27mm/21mm
UUC 25.4mm/23.8mm
ACS 27mm/23mm
RD 27mm/24mm
Dinan 24mm/22 mm

I have UUC... very satisfied with it... but gotta re-grease it once in a while to avoid the knocking sound...
I was looking for RD before.. but they seeemed to be the best but they are rare and even if you can find it they are pricey...
I also heard that H&R is good.. but they don't come with end links though...

GC sways are suppose to be the best.

Not sure if they only make for the M3, if not then I would go with Bluesky's rec and get the UUC sways, they are suppose to be very good too.
Bluesky. Do they squeek at all??

Also as Bluesky mentioned, end links are very important, preload etc..., so get ones that have end links.

you can get them from Tunerworks out in Calgary, ask for Rob, he will give you a good price, and you will only pay 7% tax. No brokerage or anything.
I haven't try any other sway yet. I have UUC and it does the job very well. :)

so far it's still alright... had them on since May...
but sooner or later (i guess after winter) i'll have to re-grease it...

If they don't come with adjustable end links you can always get them from Turner Motorsport. I think preload only becomes a problem for severely lowered cars. At least that's the information I have gotten from a few professional racers...

GC sways are suppose to be the best.
they may be very good, but I sometimes think too much adjustability especially for street cars is too much of a good thing...I mean do you really need infinitely adjustable stiffness?? Once I set something up, I don't think I will be tuning it all the time even for different tracks. Think about it, between just adjusting camber, toe, caster and tire pressures you have about 256 combinations! and that's on a stock car! add in coilovers and now you have ride height, rake, corner weight (which I am still not sold on unless you are racing 100%) rebound and compression...holy moly...now add infinately adjustable sways...you will be forever looking for the holy grail of handling and not enjoying the car...

Very true Glen. The way I see it, I can get the car to act the way I want, but I totally understand you point of having to many options. I want be changing my set up once I get it, I am going to get GC to get all the settings, have them installed, see if I like it, and when I do, leave and don't touch it.

Right up till then. I wish, this car is gonna have to stay with me for a very long time. We talk in summber of 2006, perhaps a 9974S might be in the picture around that time, but that is a stretch and a half.

Let the bidding begin. I think the M is gonna have to last me for another 5 to 6 years.

Anyone have ZHP sways on non-ZHP? I'm pretty sure they're larger, but don't know how much. I've seen them for sale on fanatics. Just curious.
