I got an amazing deal on a used hard top. I will have it painted silver to match the body colour.

It looks kinda funky though. Should I show up like that tomorrow at the Dim Sum meet?

I may get one on eBay or something. I am not quite sure where to store it yet in the summer since I have 2 cars and my garage is full of stuff.

Damn, make me want to get hard top again.

Looks good  two-tone!

Did you need the installation kit? I checked my car today and I have the same thing when I removed the cover (in your pic in the other thread).

I suggest the hard top hoist over the cart if you have a garage with nothing stored above your car.

There is no need to get the installation kit!!! The pic I posted was it!!!

Even the guy who sold me the HT said he got the HT after the original car purchase and he didn't have to get the kit.

I have a feeling that originally all the cabs were shipped with the receptacles installed and BMW stopped doing that probably after 2001.

What year is yours?

I am thinking about making my own hoist by using the ski-rack mountings on the top that accept a 6mm width x1.5mm thread bolt. I can use 4 eye-bolts in this size to hoist it up to my garage rafters.

What do you think?

I suppose I can always get an EZ-Top hoist.

That is the first time I see a hard top. Should bring it out tomorrow. :)

Mine is also 2001. Hmmm...I guess it does come with it since I have that too!

woot

Hoist doesn't need to be very fancy since you'll probably only use it 2 times per year. You can replicate the eztop one.

Your car looked great with the two tone. If you have a chance to photoshop your car with silver paint, share it with us and we can try to help you decide :)

hehe.. i like the idea of leaving the roof black and the rest silver...

What would be REALLY cool is have the hard top painted to look like the inside of the car plus some sky.

SO that way...it will LOOK like there is NO roof and you are driving with the top down all year round. Never seen that before woot :D :D woot

my preference paint the b pillars body colour and leave the top black, it will look like you have a Porsche Targa like panorama sunroof!!! somebody photoshop that!!!

or M3 CSL carbon fibre roof...

I think leaving it black looks better...it's unique and is a good contrast.
