Details:
At the instersection my Dad was in the left lane and the guy was in the right lane. both at a stoplight. When the light went green, they both went, but in the right lane there was a van parked so the guy tried to overtake from the right lane into the leftlane AT AN INTERSECTION, but he ended up clipping my car on the passenger side front left corner panel and bumeper. I guess the guy overestimated how much power and pick up he had in his '94 Accord trying to overtake a BMW. But my Dad doesnt race. The guy was just being an idiot trying to change lanes at an intersection and overtaking from the right to left.

So the hit happens, and the guy tries to blame my Pop for tryin to change into the right lane, and my Dad's tesitmony is "Why would change lanes in an intersection, and why would I change lanes when I can see van parked there.".

Collision Centre:
Inspection officer verifies that it was the either guys fault based on the location of the hit. It was a clipping of front ends. Now it's insurance company vs. insurance company.

Damages:
my 323 finally arrives at the body shop, i meet up with my Pops there and I was expecting to faint and throw up. but I didn't and actually smiled.
Checked on my Pops, he was ok, a little shaken and nervous but phyiscally ok. Whew! I look at my car and do my inspection:
Front right wheel fender - write off.
Front bumper right side and trim moulding - write off
Clear right corner lens - write off
17" BBS rim - needs to be refinished but nothing major, just scuffs.
front passenger tire - to be replaced
Front passnger solaris bulb - write off

Other things I'll have to get checked is the control arm, ball joint etc. as the alignment is all thrown off now. I don't know if there's other things I shold be checking for...

here's what made me smile:
My Pops is ok.
The car isn't a write off
The halos still work.. yes all 4 of them.
And now I can install that front facelifted bumper with an ACS addon lip paid by. Now I need to find a lip ASAP. It;s all the same cost anyways. So Andrew, there's my explanation.

Anything I should keep in mind guys & gals..?
BTWm thanks for everydboy's best wishes, support and concern. Your'e all a great bunch. I was kind hoping for a black 330i

Where you getting the rim refinished?

Time to wake up that old group buy thread. My summer rims need refinishing.

My body shop is dealing with everything.

Good to hear it. I cant believe the HALOs survived. Send a note to Matt, he'll be happy to hear that for sure.

Check with Oyster. If you have to buy something that comes in a pair, maybe he needs the other half of the set. (bushings?).

Uh..are your mods still on the car when the insurance agent comes to take a look at it? Just thinking about any potential (unjustified) hassels because of your mods.

good luck.

When i get the addon lip...can i add those things on either end... what are they called? Diffusor? Flippers? They use them in the BMW GT-R races. Will all that fit... witht the addition of the car being lowered after winter?

At least this way, you don't have to start all over again. its a pain to start modding from nothing. Good luck bros, and I keep my eyes open for rims for you still.

I'm so glad the car is not as bad as you thought. Now you can get the 325 bumper...whatever you like (not digging the flippers, tho;) )

Job No. 1 is to make sure your father's insurance company goes after this asshole for every penny. The deductable should only be 100 as it was not his fault.

Happy ending of sorts. Way to go Phosphyres woot

I'm very happy for you, Chris. I've grown to love your car and the care you take with it...like you, it's a winner!!!!:yourmyido

Oh no! Don't tell me he don't have a good bodyshop. Make sure they know how to fade in to the old color.

you shouldn't have to pay a deductible if it's not you're fault...I think that's how it goes. as for getting a new bumper, that's good news cause you wanted to get that done anyway.

yes, me speaking from experience, if you are not at fault, no deductible to pay. Don't let the insurance company rob you

:

if you need control arm, spindle and other suspension part.....going to cost you at least $1500 in part there.

I doubt a side impact would break those parts....

But be aware that they may only pay for replicate parts or used parts. It is a new policy that they dun need to pay the full repair bill if your car is more than 3 yr old. I learn that in the hard way last year! :crying:

Chris, since the damage wasn't too bad and was mainly cosmetic, the bodyshop should give you a good deal for any extra work above and beyond the regular refinishing. Actually, if they were going to get a new bumper anyway, you could bring them your bumper and acs add on and they might call it even since the OEM bmw pars cost so much $$$.

Have a long talk with the bodyshop and see what kind of a deal you can get.
