Just got my ice link plus plugged in. It's pretty awesome. there is a new version out called the DICE, but i had a best buy gift card, so i decided to browse. these things used to go for $250.
I saw the kit for $99 [probably since they are discontinued] and jumped on it. I even had the dealership do the "install" [which = plug it in and make sure it's not my fault if anything gets ****ed up so they can't bend me over and claim warranty due to "faulty installation" - ok, paranoid rant over].
got my ipod plugged in, and i have the harness hidden and t***** behind the liner up until the ski pass-through. i have the i-pod chillin in the back seat right now, just looking at ways of hiding it. i'm too lazy to bring it all the way into the glove box. i think it would be stealth hidden in the rear ashtray, but again, i'm just searching for ideas.
if anybody is contemplating getting this kit, i strongly recommend it! it scrolls the song / album name on the stock head unit = way better than the bmw unit. you can also have more than 5 playlists. anybody do the rear ashtray install here before?

Congrats, btw. It's pretty slick, when you can plug and pull your ipod with the car then take it back into the kitchen and plug it into a spkr'd base.
That's the one thing I wish I had, more than 5 playlists. My ice link was bought over a year ago as a b-day present. Plugged it in and it was ready to go...anyone know how to get it to play more than 5 playlists?

to play more than 5 playlists, i think it has to be in "i-pod interface mode". according to the manual i have, you can then select your next playlists by using disc 3 + FF. i don't know if you have id3 text display in this mode though. do you use your i-pod to browse or do you go through the dension mode?
shoot my your email, i can send you the .pdf manual if you want. i'm new at this too so i'm just learning.

I don't like reading either. Dr. Seuss is my favourite author. no money for ipod or ice or dice thing right now... other priorities. Like new shocks and sht.

I installed in in the armrest compartment on the wife's 330i.
Her iPod video fits snugly inside it.

Instead of having a drilled hole though, I peeled back the rubber liner after cutting a slit with a utility knife. I aligned that slit with the hole I drilled in the plastic underneath. After drilling the hole, pass the IceLink through the slit, and feed into the hole.
You have to glue the rubber liner back after. I just used some glue from a UHU stick.
This way there is no need for a grommet and you won't see an ugly hole. I would do it on mine, but I already have the CD changer installed.
The only thing is I wish there was a way to choose if you want the names to display or the clock. I prefer to have the clock display most of the time.

hey - if you could send me the pdf manual, that'd be great...appreciate it. Pls send it to: qreus_george@hotmail.com
I'll try the disc3+FF. I think I'm going thru the denison mode, but not sure. I just plugged it in and have access to 5 playlists with song names scrolling on the head unit.

the side of the ice link box says your car is compatible.
The nano will work. any i-pod with a docking port on it works. the cradle that comes with it [if you get one with the cradle and not the cable] is made for a full size i-pod though. so you might need to figure out how to change that.
they are on clearance at best buy. the new version is out [DICE link].
i think Pej [STALKER] has one he might be getting rid of.

I did not get a port w/ my Nano, only a cable that connects to the PC. Do I have to buy a port separately?
Thanks

no, the bottom of your nano has that crazy fat connecter, thats what is used for your icelink, you dont need any special port.
i think the shuffle is the only one that isnt compatible. ie - the shuffle doesn't have the port on the bottom of it like your nano does.
