Privately? I've never done it, wonder if anyone could share their experience.
Advertise it... Autotrader.ca seems obvious, local forums seems obvious, what else?

I would trade it in. Selling private is such a pain in the ass. You have to worry that the guy test driving might crash your car and you get nothing out of it. You also have to worry if the guy just takes off with your car :)
Some people might just want to joyride your car and not interest in buying it. Lots of things like that.

That's what I did too and the tax savings more than made up for the lower trade in value.

I'm not looking to buy anything at the moment, that's the thing. I've always traded cars in and I would do it again, except that I wouldn't mind selling it now but I'm not looking to buy anything else :/ I'm try to sell it privately, but if it doesn't work I'll just keep it :Qboy:

that is so true, with your inventory of cars, trade it in. too many tire quickers out there.
even selling a POS is a waste of time I was selling my old Camry for $600 and they still haggle on it.....then u agree on $600 over the phone, they come with $500.00....cheap bastard.....took the $500 and told them to get lost and good luck
should had let the dealer credit me $500 and dispose of my old eye sore.
unless it's a referral from a contact of a contact then it might be worth while but adds in the paper or internet = waste of time

You're selling your M5 to get a smart car aren't you. I knew it! I saw the enjoyment in your face that night when you were test driving the smart car on the sidewalk!

You don't come by this "inventory" by throwing money away :) Time, I have plenty of :/
Since I am in no rush to sell it, I won't be afraid to do a lil' pre-qualifying among anyone who responds. Now, anyone wants my car for 80k? :D

Thanks for the link, Jersey. Crap, that's a lot to go through...
Ugh, unless I get a really good offer price wise, I'll keep it and let the dealer deal with everything when the time comes.

You generally get a better price for sure selling privately, however you have ot be prepared for the multimple calls, test drives, etc. I guess it depends on what you are selling of course and whether the a slight price difference is worth your time.
If you need to get rid of it, our firm uses auction agents who do everything for you. You set the price, they come and take your plates off, and take it away. They handle the paperwork, etc. When it sells, they give you a cheque!! You pay a small commission but its worth the less hassle. No calls, test drives, storage, etc. I'm using them next time I do it. :D
P.S.- dont sell to relatives...it's a nightmare!!
