I think they are replicas.

BTW, I remember seeing Canadian Tire commercials about the air compressor that comes with an impact gun. Do you guys know what brand it is?

I am thinking about getting that so that I can install and rotate tires myself. I can do it for you guys too!!

What got me thinking is that my vert's trunk is so damn small and there no way for me to put tires in the back seat. Which means every change of season I have to take my wagon and my vert to the mechanics just to change tires. Too inconvenient.

Does anyone on the board have one of those?

THat's quite a generous offer of you. Dont you need those balancing machines? :)

Go with the top down to transport tires. They shoudl fit then right? Just noisy.

First of all I apologize for this off topic stuff. Maybe we should discuss this on a different thread?

I thought you don't need balancing if the rubber is already on the wheel. I could be wrong.

Driving with the top down in this weather? I need to get the electric warmer jacket first! :)

Nah, I don't to get the leather dirty. I don't mind getting the wagon dirty though. :p

In general how much do they charge for tire rotation/seasonal tire change? I am just thinking in the long run I'd probably get my money's worth, consider I have 2 cars, plus my parent's.

You don't really need an impact wrench and compressor to change wheels. What is essential is a torque wrench so you don't over tighten your lugs. Also floor jack is useful.

Also you don't need to rebalance unless you change the tires.

Been changing my wheels every spring/fall myself for the last 3 yrs. I loosen the lugs with the BMW provided wrench then use a power drill (with the right socket attached) to quicky remove the lugs. Put the lugs on (with the new wheels) using the power drill again till just finger tight and then use the torque wrench to torque the lugs to 80ft/lbs. (BMW recommends 72 but most tires shops recommend 80 - 85 for BMW's)

Also remember to grease the back of the wheel (where it meets the wheel hub) otherwise it will be a pain removing it in spring (the two metals kinda fuse and you have to use a hammer to loosen the wheel).

If you have issues getting a shop to install your tires because of transportation of the extra set of tires, then you don't really have to worry.

When I had my winter tires installed the first time, you can open the roof, put 2 tires in the back seat, 1 in front seat and 1 in trunk. Close roof, then when get to destination, open roof again to remove the tires. You can ask the tire shop for brand new tire plastic bags to protect the interior.

Having no roof makes it extremely easy to load stuff (like rear passengers).

I'll just post the price in case anyone else is interested...it's $800+tax for a set of 17" replica BMW wheels. If any of you are interested, we could probably try to get a lower price.
