Hey Mark,
When would be a good day to head up? Sunday usually looks to be the best days attendance wise.
Let us know when you have free time from the track & work. Then we'll make plans start a sign up thread to Barrie.

First Saturday or Sunday in October maybe? Let me know what you'd like to do and I can do some research. The weather is starting to get a little unpredictable for a BBQ, so a restaurant?
Mark
if it's Barrie, I'm in. I want to see my daughter too. :)

Well, if weather holds hopefully a BBQ. But you did say there was a Jack Arse up in Barrie.

Yep, Jack Astors in the south end. The rest of the usual places too (Kelseys, Montanas, ESM). BBQ would be fun though!
Maybe a cruise earlier then dinner afterwards. That way the trip home won't be as late.

I vote early cruise then BBQ. Second option is early cruise then restaurant.
Just my thought. Oh yeah...I lean toward a Sunday. Less traffic?

Yup, other than the cottage traffic on the way home but by October that is pretty much over. We are looking into some spots for BBQ - I would at the house but any more than 3 or 4 cars and it will be really crowded.
For BBQ, we can hit the main beach by the water or Sunnidale Park, both have ample parking. I have one of those portable BBQs, but a couple would make things easier.
For Jack Astors, parking is a little thin there but there is a Honda dealership right next door with a side road - could line 'em up there! (Hee hee!)
As for cruise roads, there is a nice one just north of the city called Ridge Road - should be nice fall colours by then. Could cut across to Horseshoe Valley Road, stop by the resort for some pictures, then back into town. How long a cruise do you guys tend to like to go on?

Should be OK - Saturday for sure, Sunday may be a bit busy but it is the weekend before Thanksgiving so it should be a bit lighter.

I'll do a driveby at Sunnidale - I believe the parking lot is not, but it also is not loose dust (more like packed soil).
OK - did an inquiry with the city, and gas BBQs are not allowed on city property. They require a permit - looked into that as well, aaaand unless someone is willing to put up a first born as collateral we're kinda boned. Charcoal is OK though. The other issue is the weather - how cold is it gonna get near that time? It could be a lot of lugging of food and equipment for naught.
Here's a plan suggestion (with partial credit to my lovely bride Melynda). A leisurely afternoon cruise up Ridge Road to highway 11, then to Webers on the highway for some traditional cottage country burgers. To those of you unfamiliar with Webers Highway, here is a link (http://www.britishcarday.com/SpringFling03pics/index.html) to a photo gallery of the Toronto Triumph Club who went on a cruise up that way recently - the top couple of lines are when they stopped at Webers. As you can see from the pics, there would be good opportunities for pictures including overhead ones from the walkbridge. (I will know tomorrow if it is still open that late in the year, and will post the update.) Then cruise back down through Horseshoe Valley Road to the resort for a bit, then whereever from there. Keep in mind this would be a bit of a lengthy cruise - to Barrie is approx 90km from hwy 7, then another 50-60km to Webers just past Orillia, then all the way back.
Any thoughts on that?

might be a little long for me. I like the & to drive but coming also from way way east into west then way north...
Sounds like fun... I could, and stress could if I get a second driver like my cousin to drive the boring stretch like 400 north.
But BBQ is always in for me. Preferably charcoaled. Gas is cool.

That's what I though too, but isn't it late enough in the season? I was thinking since Thanksgiving was the week after that it would be OK. Have you been up that way on that weekend?

Yeah, it is up to you guys on the drive. 400 can be a stretch, but once you're up here it would be nice.
BBQ is still an option - there is another park area I forgot about that is along the lake on a very lightly travelled road. Lots of parking along the road, and the park is right along side where the cars are. (It is Kempenfelt and St. Vincent Park.) Hey, as long as there are people who can deal with a charcoal BBQ and the weather cooperates... :)

My suggestion, Since it is going to be quite a drive, logically A saturday date would be ideal so we can all stay out there as long as we can and not rush the opportunity that we have of being in barrie, also it will give us all a chance to sleep in the next day without worrying of the next day work schedule. Just my suggestion. ;)

I agree with Ian. I prefer Saturday so that we can stay late and sleep in on Sunday. Its very hard to wake up Monday morning when you're up very late or up till early in the morning. :)

That's a good call Ian. Let's get a general concensus from the gang - Chris, should this be a poll?
[ ] Saturday, [ ] Sunday, [ ] Either
[ ] BBQ, stay in/near town, [ ]Webers cruize (confirmed - they will be open)

Well, if you can get us all penecillin shots just for touching the door handles in the joints up this way, then it may be doable...
