I have always been disappointed with the sound of my 2003 325's stock cd player. I could never understand why they put such a lifeless stereo in a nice car. I found the sound slightly muddy with no real sound stage to it. I just accepted it and would leave the bass and treble flat.
Yesterday, I had an ice link plus installed and I cannot believe the sound of the stereo! For some reason the ipod sounds a 100% better than the stock Cd. If I a/b them the difference is night and day, I feel like I have a whole new stereo.
I find this surprising, because Ipods are not know for their sound quality and why would an mp3 sound better than the CD?
I should add that I'm not using any preset EQ's on the ipod, it is a straight connection and the bass and treble are set at 0.
Does the ipod have better D.A.C's than the CD player or did I buy a used car with a bad CD connection? The CD was never bad enough to take it back to the dealer, it just sounded cheap. The ipod sounds like a $40,000 car should.
Anybody else notice this or was something wrong with my cd?
cheers,
