Who here has these pads?
I was planning on buying some tomorrow but when I spoke to Sam at Cross Avenue as to doing the change, he says they can be really noisy (squealling).
Does anyone have this problem with their Axxis?

Ed,
I can practically guarantee you that if someone actually posts that they had "really noisy" Axxis Deluxe Plus, they will be one of the first.
If noone replies here, for second opinions, you can always search:

Any pad may give an occasional squeak. To eliminate a squeak and just for comfort level, each pad must be properly bedded-in. First, check if that manufacturer has their own bedding-in instruction. If not, there are plenty posted on the internet if you search. Here are two of many .....

I also highly recommend this silver Ultra disk brake caliper lube bottle (just a couple of dollars at Crappy tire). Works even on truly squeaky pads. Just DONT get it on the side of the pad that touches rotors :) .

I also tried this one in small tubes but did not find it as effective as above (maybe did not put enough, just kept to a thin layer).

P.S. As I pmed you yesterday, definetely get "deluxe plus" over just "deluxe" version.

The above info is good stuff. Ferrodo makes good pads too.

Axxis are the old PBR deluxe or ultimate which were known to be quiet and less dusty than stock Jurid pads. If you are looking for a pad with similar characteristics of the stock pads but less dust, Axxis are a good choice.

THanks for the input guys. I think I will go with the Axxis/PBR Delux Plus. I was already planning to bed them properly. Now I just gotta find a good place to go do that without traffic around!! :)

I bedded mine in properly by doing x3 times, 0-100-0.
no squeaks if you use the car daily. I sometimes don't use it for 4-7 days. they squeaks for the first block I drive off then they are ok.

I am planning (hoping) to store my car for the winter. Will I have to rebed it after I take it out of storage?

I guess I'll just use the DVP!! Every time I drive on it, there seems to be lots of people speeding up and then slamming on their brakes for no apparent reason. They must be bedding their brakes, right? :D :D

I noticed that too. or... those people know where the "hot zones" are where the po-po's wait for you. Especially under the Wynford Dr. bridge and Lawrence Ave. bridge. And the turn southbound on DVP underneath the Don Mills Rd brige.

Nah...judging by the randomness of the braking, I'd say they are just bad drivers
see another car merging...slam on the brakes...starts to drizzle...slam on the brakes...sun comes out from behind a cloud....slam on those brakes!!

Yeah you're right. I was just trying to make Toronto drivers not seem so bad and unskilled. Who am I kidding....

I wonder what would the cop say if he were to pull you over....
"Sorry officer I was bedding my brake pads that is why I had to do several 0-100-0 stop and go runs :D "

That's why I am going to carry the printed DIY instructions so I can show that that's what exactly what I was doing.
What would be really funny if two people went to bed their brakes at the same time in a parking lot. It would so look like street racing. May be harder to get out of. :D :D

UNfortunately, this board is not WAP enabled so it will not format correctly with my Blackberry. Unless someone knows of a way to do it then I can keep track even on the road!! :D
