OPP blocked us from getting into the track to protect our safety; I understand 10-12 natives we're staging a peaceful pamphlet campaign just down from the track. Local radio in Belleville we're out laughing and joking with the would be terrorists. What a joke - OPP overracting

Yeah...just got back. 4 hours on the road. Arghh!

The OPP road block was only a minute or two away from the track entrance. I don't get why that particular stretch of road, as we were already well within signed native territory.

Feel bad for Glen given all the effort to put this event together. Even had the kids in F1 swag!

the day was too perfect to be true. 21C, no humidity, Ariel Atom lined up, Quick shift racing lined up, $2000 in food and drinks, $2000 in Fastlaps goodies, family was coming for first time, hauled the car on a trailer, stayed overnight in Belleville, father in-law was going to meet at track and take family over to Montreal for the week, my boyz from Montreal were coming back to TO to party...

a whole 6 months of intensive planning and work and major jumping through hoops, getting everything done last week to car ended up in frustrating, disappointing, depressing big zero.

we got withing spitting distance of the entrance to the track and the friendly OPP wouldn't let anyone through. It wasn't even the friggin Indians that were blocking the street to Shannonville.

Thanks Glen!

I’ll be there on the 15th. It was very frustrating indeed. I limped into the Sunoco in Marysville on fumes at 8:25am. I actually found a great route to get to there by cutting up the exit before 37 and proceeding east. I was so proud of myself, only to be snookered after fueling up at the 4 way stop just east of the track. Cop was a bit of an ass; “you wouldn’t want that fancy car of yours taken and set on fire now would you”? After informing him I was 25% aboriginal he lost the smug look on his face :yak:

I ran into a real nice fellow at the OPP blockade (forget his name) who I believe was the head Mazda instructor – he’d come all the way from Oakville.

Hope the food was good!

On a different note - Did some right seat laps with George "GeoS" at Mosport Monday. On track incidents in both sessions only allowed for a few laps - but it was great fun... Thanks George!

Thanks George!Dave, it was great to see you there. Yeah, too bad for the short sesions. The crazy thing was that the advanced group that had all the offs. After you left, and the mid-day drivers tough-talk meeting, the intermediate group went out and guys were going 2 deep into turn 1 after the passing zone. They had to black flag their session to calm things down!

Looking forward to Fastlaps. It is much safer and more civilized! woot

Who was running the event at Mosport?

Kensai racing.

There were some nice cars there though... GT3's, a GT3RS, NSX, and a 71 Datsun Z with a 280 turbo motor.

Just another typical car from one of the events last year. Maybe he'll be back again this year.

Nobody needs the headache and no one is out there to prove anything. It puts a real damper on things when things get out of hand. My policy is, if I am not comfortable with the driving, those people aren't invited back to Fastlaps.
