1)Can M3 mirrors go on a sedan also?
2)Because there's the fold up option, does a toggle switch need to be installed?
3)Instead of installing a kill switch (if applicable), is there any way of tapping into a wire(s) on the steering for unsued buttons like the celphone stuff and use those as toggle switch?

Those two extra c-phone buttons are connected to the i-bus. they don't have separate control wires - they work together with the other buttons on that side. I've looked at control options there too, and one way is a RF link setup. Would be a fair bit of work though. Or there is that interface available that will convert the button functions to IR codes (for use with aftermarket HUs).

I'm going to be working on a group buy for the mirrors -- gonna search for a oem-quality rep, if one exists...

Thanks for the efforts e46Toronto admins!! :yourmyido
We can all use a mirror upgrade. Yet another e46Toronto signature mod (halos and M3 mirrors).

Chris, OEM M3 mirrors won't fit sedans unless some modifications are made to the base.
only replica M3 mirrors are made for sedans w/o modification.
for the power fold ones, you will need a new mirror switch with autofold button. you also need to have fuse # 57 for power fold.
also when you get M3 mirrors, I suggest to get the split (wide angle) mirrors instead of the regular mirror glass. It does take a while to get used to but it is definitely worth it.
I was looking into getting OEM M3 power foldb mirrors, but end up finding out that I don't have fuse # 57.

So m3 mirrors are definetley outta the mod list for me. Sounds like too much trouble with the fuse, different base, tapping into wires etc. Ah....forget it.
Anthony or I will still setup a GB on the mirrors as soon as we can find a good & reliable distributor. Pref, locally.

Chris, I bow to your brilliant GB skills...I'll be happy to help, of course...I'm glad you are not M3 mirror hatin' anymore...;)

Chris, there's no wire tapping. All you need to look for is a base that will fit sedan, fuse #57, either a 6/12 pin connector and a new mirror switch (around $25USD)
the replicas should be a direct replace w/o any modification. they should be manufactured to fit sedans...
if you don't want the hassle.. just get non-powerfold ones... ;)
You mean there is a 6pin to 12-pin connector available? since my 328i is 6pin even with memory seat but the replicate is only in 12-pin(I think there is only 1 source on ebay selling M3 mirror). And the guy told me that he won't gurantee the heated function will retain after the rewiring and for sure I am not able to get the memory mirror function that I really want so I give it up. :Qboy:
