So I was heading over to Montreal for another night of partying and lucky me, OPP caught me speeding..
I was going 160-70ish on the highway, and approaching the end of a turn, I saw this white glare in the middle of the road. Instinctively, I slammed on the breaks. I figured it couldn't be OPP never in my whole driving life, about 5 years, have I seen OPP in the middle between the highway. Well, it was OPP. Just as I was passing him, we made quick eye contact and I knew that very moment, he got me and it's time for me to take one. So right away, I pulled over, turned off my car, and waited for him to do all his crap and come get me.
Anywho, he comes, the usual questioning, "Are you in a hurry?", no etc etc. He ends up telling me that he appreciated me for pulling over right away and drops the speed from 136(which is what he nailed me at) to 129.
Im wondering if I should even bother fighting it.
Oh well.. I did get smashed out of my mind in result..
Going *ARRRGH* at 100km/h now on the roads...

Sorry to hear that Adrian. Nice of him to somewhat reduce it but speeding is something that I think that is always a little harder to get out of.
Other "infractions" have a couple of loop holes.
Anyways... glad you had a good time in Montreal.
Oh...yeah, never make eye contact.

sorry to hear about the ticket.. i feel for ya... driving long distance is the worst if you get a ticket...
check if there's a "R" marked on the ticket... if it's marked... you are pretty much set... if there's no "R" anywhere... you got lucky and still have a chance to fight it...

yikes, sorry to hear, I think by the reduction from 136 to 129 he reduced your demerit points.
where exactly did you get nailed (city or exit number if you remembered)?

i am not in the industry, but from what i understand as long as this is your first offence your rate should not increase...but you have to take it easy until it comes off your record...because a 2nd minor speeding ticket will cause an increase...or a claim, etc. Usually the only time speeding affects your insurance when you have a clean record is if you are more than 35 over...that is why it is really cool that the officer dropped u down....don't fight it.

I know :( . I do understand that which is why I'm not bitching about how they should spend more time catching murderers, etc etc. But no one likes getting a ticket, it's like no one likes going to the dentist :)

No "R" on my ticket. From all the lovely tickets they've been issuing out, they have invested in a system that allows them to print tickets instead of writing them by hand. I am pretty positive he has it marked in his log book that the speed was reduced.
And yeah, after getting a ticket, it KILLS the mood in the car for the rest of the long distance trips.

Yes it reduces down to 3 points. Makes the ticket a minor instead of a major but I am under a commercial insurance company, so they generally don't like any speeding tickets AT ALL.
The location on the ticket states "401, South Dundas TWP, Dundas County". From what I remember *shakes fist*damn alcohol.. it was around the Cornwall area... either 10 minutes before or after but they were swarming that hole area both days... on the way back as soon as I left this "Dundas County" area, I was going 180 and no cops AT all, all the way to T.O.
CarbonM3:
I probably won't. Just gonna have to go easy now for the next 2 years. On the bright side, the ticket forces me to slow down on a perfect time: right before winter.
Just for a quick heads up, this cop used a dirty tactic in my opinion. Just like one time on QEW/Winston Churchill, the cops actually hid in the bush to nail people off and then cruisers down the highway would pull you over..
If you can just imagine the 401, seperated by a wide gap, with guard rails on the left side. Now have a bridge go over the 401. The guard rails would go straight and then extend outwards right before the bridge.

there is a pole to support the bridge, the cop would hide behind the pole facing the rail that is extending outwards allowing him to nail you far away and start turning around and pull out before you can even pass him.
At first I felt stupid for falling into something I at first considered a "text book" trick but then when I thought about it, never in my 5 years of driving everywhere, cottage country, major GTA, london, to kingston, etc have I ever seen the cops setup speed traps on the left shoulder then the standard right.
Oh well, watch out guys
Adrian
